If we do pick up Braylon and Smith stays, you know that means Armanti will be deactivated for the season. What a bad pick that was :(

Eh, bad picks happen, and there is still time for him to develop so nothings over. But if you can have Edwards start beside Smith for a reasonable price, you shouldn't hesitate to do it because you want to force snaps to a fourth or fifth receiver.

that has more to do with your beliefs than anyone else changing.. you're choosing to look at 2 f**k ups instead of all teh good he has done. you fail to ignore how he's wanted to step up as a leader, and did that the last 2 years..

sure, there are plenty examples of people who do not change. I've disassociated myself from many of them. but people do change. Hard to use Vick as an example of those who don't change?

you're personal belief may be that Vick hasn't.. but proof is in the pudding. just depends on what part YOU want to focus on to provide these truths to your opinion.

I'm not saying Edwards has changed. I'm saying I trust the FO/Coaching staff to make a better decision than you, I, or anyone here.

No, I am not just looking at 2 f ups by Smith. I am looking at his entire career as a Panther and he has done LOTS of talk about changing......and reality is he has done very little. He still has basically the same temper over his entire career....which is why he has punched reportedly 3 different teammates, kicked an opponent in the head, and has unleashed on teamates and coaching staffs usually every season.

also, nothing about last year and Steve Smith screamed leadership....imo. I mean he was all over a clueless Clausen from snap 1 making matters worse and Armanti was forced to seek advice from Jarrett (b/c Smitty was too busy ignoring all the rookie WRs)

very curious about all this gangland style beatings you're talking about.. I've only heard about 2.

I guess you have a point about the 2 punches and his fire on the field that we all see and him not changing.

I'm associating him "Not changing" and most people believing he is a bad person based on that.

Michael Jordan hit a teammate back in the day, but people ignore that. Jordan had a lot of fits back in the day. I don't associate fire/passion with things that are horrible character traits. Yes, they need toned down, but it comes with the territory.

but as far as leadership and stepping up as a teammate, that he did change. of course, I know I would be pissed as hell having to go through a season like last year.

not sure what you were trying to say with your last sentence..

last year most negatives are either too hard to evaluate or forgiveable. JR shut his wallet, he cared anything but winning. Playing the younger guys, saving money for lockout, clearing the books for 2011 to sign our many FAs, not spending money on lame duck Fox. Winning was WAY down the list of priorities for JR.

So then you take a handicapped team and make them play under a lame duck coach.

I don't blame Smitty for being pissed and childish. I don't blame Gamble for getting pissed.

I do agree that Smitty's temper has never changed but his attitude off the field has. He's a very passionate person and that just isn't going to change.

all I said was he has reportedly punched 3 teammates per the local media that has covered him......I don't think that is me exaggerating things into a "gangland style beatings".

Smith has consistantly over his entire career shown little ability to control his emotions on and off the field.....therefore to me, he hasn't changed. Doesn't mean I don't like him playing WR.......but he is what he is.

I think Smith has anger management issues and issues getting along with people in general......and I think he likes to genuinely do good things.

you will have to point out where Smith changed and became this great leader.......he has always been a tremendous talent and talent alone lands guys like Smith or Peppers a C on their jersey at times.

you painted a pretty hardcore picture there.. lol he reportedly punched 2 players.. I'd love to read about the 3rd, since this is the 1st time I'm hearing about it, as well as him kicking an opponent in the head, and unleashing on coaching staff..

the last part, I only remember him going off on Davidson for calling a dumbass play that almost injured him. do you really blame him for that? I don't.. I was pissed as well.. lol

Smith was one of few on the field pumping up Clausen before games. plenty of video of him going to teammates to get them out of their funk if they f**k up (video of him and DWill floating around somewhere on the net) or motivating Stew/DWill to keep running hard.. him talking to Delhomme when he was benched during the Eagles game, trying to joke around with him... etc, etc..

so yes, it's very clear he's stepped up and realized (maybe from Moose's tutelage) that it was time for him to grow up.

you have a point, he has anger management problems. so did Jordan, did you hear his press conference from going into the HOF? LOL.. players on that level have issues, highly competitive, I want to step on your throat even when winning.. issues.

and I am good with that. you're right in that aspect. it's incredibly hard to change your makeup in that regard.

however, people can change in other aspects, like decision making, work ethic, compassion for teammates, etc.. and in that regard, I think was Braylon Edwards problem, and it's perfectly rational to think maybe he has changed. IF the coaching staff feels as so, then I'll take their word for it. if he hasn't, so be it.

but we can name a lot of players in the NFL who were once young and immature and change.. you may not change your competitiveness, but majority of the time, players like Vernon Davis, Vick, Smitty have made strides of change and stepped it up.

To: CRA and any other Smitty Haters

From: someone who knows a thing or two about loyalty!

How dare you sit there like you live your life with no mistakes! Shame on you!!!

You sit here and question his leadership!? Question his character!?

Let me ask you this... When he's smack talking DB's on Sunday and embarrassing them to the point where they lose their cools to the extent of a 15 yd unsportsmanlike conduct penalty are you talking this shyit then???

When he breaks 10 tackles against the Texans a few years ago... Did you call him a thug then!? Did you paint the picture that he was violent?

When he scored in overtime against the greatest show on turf to send us on in the playoffs, were you screaming at your tv that he was a bumb!?

This shyit is sooooo played out... Fo real fo real...

You can NOT dispute his success on the field! So what if he gets in skirmishes with his team mates... You act like you never fought one of your friends before!? It brought them closer and more competitive.

Next time you come on here running your damned mouth... Remember what this guy has done for our organization!

If not... you're gonna sound ignorant and ungrateful!

He has earned his spot in this team year in and year out! He plays on another level. I really hope this opens your eyes and your heart to understand that sometimes people make mistakes. He's earned that right. Case Closed!

I can't believe that people here actually want Smitty to walk.. Only the best player in our franchise's history... No loyalty whatsoever... "just go out and sign Rice" do you guys hear what you're saying? It's just flat out Gayness!

yea requesting to be traded is being such a leader!!!

you do understand being a leader and wanting to be on a team with the same competitive understanding are not 1 of the same, right?

that you can be a leader and still expect your FO/coaches to do everything they can to win..

I guess I'm asking a rhetorical question, since you obviously fail to understand this..

It's called being tired of not having a DAMNED QB... Tired of mediocrity! You've obviously never played organized sports not to even remotely understand where he was coming from. He's not getting any younger btw...

Whatever...

It's like somebody's signature says on here..

" I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you."
