Mellow Mushroom

yeah i do. A venue with live music or something like a noisy bar/grill could be an acceptable reason, but there isn't anything in your face about mellow mushroom. Not going there simply because of the kind of people that eat there is dumb.

Eating at a culinary establishment should be about the food, i feel sorry for people with misplaced priorities when they miss out on good pizza.

That was the point. The pizza is not good, it's mediocre at best imo. This thread is not about not wanting to go to a hippie establishment.

the person i was referring to didn't say anything about the pizza but plenty about the yuppie hippie vibe. I usually ate on the patio so i didn't see much of that at all.

The one at Clemson was fantastic, maybe it's because it was a college town and I only ate there during the semester but it was great pizza. If people think it's overpriced pretty much all pizza is over priced it costs them nothing to put dough, sauce, and cheese on a pizza. You might as well try out something a little different.

i don't know what mellow's everyone's going to... i'll say it again, i've NEVER had a bad pizza at one

hell, i've taken a ton of family to the mellow in asheville the weekend the wife and i got married up there, and there wasn't a single person that had a bad thing to say about. i have cousins that still tell me they can't wait to come back down (to visit asheville) and hit up mellow again in the process

pizza's good, cheesy bread is good, hummus is good... great beer selection. it's good.

Your right, and I apologize for my involvement in derailing this thread. I have tried their pizza (a co-worker brought a pie to work), and it was ordinary. I agree with your evaluation of this pizza chain.

Going to a restaurant isn't just about the food, or all restaurants would be the same. They individualize to target a group, and this establishment targets to "hippies". I am not a hippie, and do not enjoy a hippie motif. This sir, does not make me dumb.

who needs a hippie tolerance?

you may need a wook tolerance, but a hippie tolerance is unnecessary

it's a shame this place is so full of people who can't stand anyone different than them

Sir, i have enjoyed quite a few of your post, but do not assume you know anything about me. I have traveled quite a bit, and in no way am I intolerant of others "just because they are different than I". As far as hippie's go - I went to school in Arcata, CA. I have been around enough hippie's to say, in general, I do not like or want to be around this group of people.

that last sentence was not directed at you, just a generalized statement of the board

if you fit into the group, you fit into the group... if you don't, you don't. i'm not pointing fingers

just pointing out the fact that there are a good number of people who don't have a problem with showing their prejudices on here

sir ;)

It would be very entertaining to see what you people describe as "hippies" come into the Mellow Mushroom on Selwyn

lulz.

Maybe they could walk to get some froyo after and then have a drink at Selwyn Pub, maybe say whatsup to MJ, spend $70 on overpriced beer. You could make a hippie night out of it.

I was talking more about the motif. I mean in reality hippies wouldn't frequent this commercial chain. They would grow their own veggies, make their own sauce and dough, and bake it themselves.....

The person you are referring to is a hippie midget loving nerd.

Yeah, I don't think they are still aiming towards hippies per se, but they are trying to keep the original theme they had to begin with. Personally, I think its pretty cool. Love the Tshirts, I really want the one with the crazy avatar looking tree.

I would rather have my pizza served by a nice italian girl as opposed to a hippie that hasn't bathed in a week. I have no problem with hippies when I'm at a show doing drugs with them. As far as having them serve me pizza? A Kind no.

As I said the food was decent when I ate there, but too expensive imo seeing as I don't care if it's all natural or whatever you say it is to charge me more.

Here is a pizza rundown based solely on the food and no mellow mushroom isn't last:

1) Brooklyn South, Mama's, Prosciutto's (or any good NY style or brick oven pizza)

2) Brixx, Fuel, Sbarro

3) Cici's( because it's unlimited), Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Mellow Mushroom

4) Little Ceaser's, Domino's

5) Hungry Howies, Digiorno

6) Red Baron, Stouffer's

.

.

.

7) Hunt Brothers

Poll?!

    • The SEC were not having GT upset Georgia at home. Horrendously corrupt officiating in this game - the non-PI on 4th down and the non-targeting call on the King fumble. Good lord.
    • I like how they were about to punt the ball right before the two minute warning before being like... oh fug, this'll be too obvious we gotta try a FG then ole boy skulls one that never got more than about 12 feet off the ground. LOL!
