The Wide out that should come to Carolina.Who's with me?

Recommended Posts

I only want a free agent receiver if Smith leaves. We have too much young talent to bottle neck it up with another Vet. If Smith stays, him along with second year Gettis and Lafell is pretty good, with an emerging Armanti (I still have faith) it will be a pretty good core. We need to get our young kids on the field to see what we've got so we can move forward in the future.

Pass.

Edwards is too inconsistent and has too many off the field issues. Plus when he was in Cleveland all he ever wanted was to be with a big market team, so I don't see him leaving New York to come to Carolina.

Dallas, Philly or New England? Yeah.

Carolina? Doubt it.

yes. overrated,

Im on-board. I would prefer Holmes but I don't think the Jets will let him go. Im not a fan of Rice at all. He seems like a one year wonder with a bad attitude to me.

I feel the same way about Edwards, except he has off the field issues as well.

If I was scared of Rice being a failure, it would be due to injury and at least you can perform a physical to check for that. I've never heard anything about him being a bad teammate, etc.

With Edwards, I would be worried about his level of focus with a non-playoff, non-big market team. I would be worried about his inconsistency. I would be worried about his commitment once he gets paid, and I would be concerned about him get into more trouble off the field.

I don't want to make it out like I think he is a terrible player, but I think he is currently in the best possible situation for him. He should be an elite number 2 in a competitive situation. If removed from that, I think he gets bored and frustrated. He is not a leader and shouldn't be looked to by young players.

Just to show a couple people what I'm talking about:

Bad team guy:

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2009/10/in_seeking_the_spotlight_brayl.html

[braylon] Called out teammate safety Brian Russell, saying Russell's hit that knocked Cincinnati's Chad Johnson out of the game "bull----." Crennel, in turn, blasted Edwards for criticizing his own teammate. "It was a legal hit," Crennel said. "You don't air family laundry."

Went berserk on the sidelines of the Bengals game, grabbing Charlie Frye's jersey and screaming at teammates. Later, he accused teammates of quitting and "flat-out not playing."

Along the way, he told ESPN's Jim Rome how much he hated being here as a rookie and how he felt "unappreciated" and "a marked man" because he was from Michigan. He also frequently bashed offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski in front of teammates, sources said.

Last year I was with the Texans, and when we played the Browns, Braylon Edwards asked me between plays if we could talk after the game about modeling and acting

Off the field:

http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/09/avon_lake_officer_under_invest.html

Edwards has since been issued a speeding ticket for going 120 mph in a 65 mph zone

http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/01/ny_jets_braylon_edwards_pleads.htmll

Jets receiver Braylon Edwards pleaded no contest to to aggravated disorderly conduct Tuesday and was placed on probation

http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5598872

Edwards was given a breath test at the scene and another at a police station. His blood alcohol level was .16, twice the legal limit, officials said. There were four other people in the SUV at the time.

That doesn't include generally dumb stuff like him disobeying his coaches to attend an Ohio St/Michigan game, other incidents of publicly criticizing teammates, missing/falling asleep in meetings, calling out Gamble and Marshall prior to our game in 06, and getting injured during OTAs while jogging barefoot.

I wouldn't consider him as an option to be our number one guy into the future. I think he should stay where he is at. Best for him and any teams that view him as a valid number one.

I just think that more than three is too much.

Yes depth is great, but someone will be seeing a lot of pine time.

I just would like to see LaFell and Gettis really stand out.

I just fear that it would be hard to do behind Edwards of Holmes etc..

the bolded is the problem.

people don't want more talented people brought in because they like gettis and lafell.

so given the choice of improving the receiving corps or giving gettis and lafell...the choice is going to be hoping that lafell and gettis can actually amount to something.

loyalty of players over winning.

btw...not singling you out...just the idea. i think it's harmful for a team wanting to win.

we need another big receiver brought in whether smith stays or not. if smith leaves, then we need 2 big receivers brought in.

we have the money to do it. all thats needed is a desire to be the best team possible and doing what it takes to accomplish that.
