Car Insurance Driver Exclusion

Question for anyone who knows anything about car insurance...

My roommate just got a new car insurance policy and showed me an "Authorization to Exclude a Driver" form with my name on it. Basically says that if something happens while I'm driving his car, I'm not covered.

I looked up why insurance companies would issue this, and it's for high-risk drivers with a DUI or accidents, etc. I have one ticket on my record from when I was 18 that got written off for "improper equipment". That's it.

He swears he doesn't know why my name is on his policy, so either he's lying and asked for it, or the insurance company issued it. Do you get a discount for having one of these? Does this represent something I don't know about on my record, or could this very exclusion from my roommates policy be used against me when I get another policy of my own?

Obviously I can't ever drive his car, but I've never dealt with this situation before. Anyone have some insight?

I was told that....... Each person that lives at a residence can have a negative impact on your insurance. I was shown a report at insurance office that listed my address and other people that had lived there and had tickets, accidents etc.

As for your case the op said you lived with him or vice versa so the insurance is doing a CYA to make sure they don't have to pay if you damage his vehicle.
