Current Vegas spread week 1 vs Cardinals

Panthers have historically been the favorite against the cardinals. The cardinals have lost something like 7 out of 10 games against the panthers.

If they get Kolb, I think it would edge them into being the favorite to win, based on experience. Cardinals have a good defense, an excellent receiver, and more vets than the panthers. We shall see.

problem is a system change for kolb. not usually all that successful, esp. with andy reid QBs for some reason.

also, zona's defense good? if by good you mean not the worst in the league, then maybe. and if by more vets you mean half their starters being over 30 (at least on defense), then yeah.

i think with kolb they'll be a little better, but they will still have an old and ineffective defense, a poor running game, likely one less solid receiving option if they lose breaston, and a mediocre coaching staff without much of an identity on offense or defense.

they got a good pick in the first round with patrick peterson, but he isn't nearly enough to turn that team around.

The cardinals had no run game last year and have no proven quarterback. You do have to remember that vegas lines are weighed and adjusted based on how folks are betting not necessarily who is going to win.

true... and it is only about 4 hours from phoenix so the locals are getting on board with the cards.

i think everything hinges on newton. our defense was good last year and will be great this year. we have the run game, and i think we will have much improved receivers. if newton can be ready to start and at least be slightly better than average at the QB spot, we should be a fav. by the time the game is actually played. I should have placed a bet now to get the 3 points because i expect it will be even or we will be a 1 or 2 point fav by game time.

im moving to vegas. was supposed to this past week but decided to turn my trip into a vacation and return home. trying to sell my house but should be moved by game day and will be making the drive to phoenix for the game wearing my 52 jersey. (hell, if newton looks sharp in camp and preseason, and looks like he'll be starting week 1, i'll buy a newton jersey and wear it to the game!)

crap...having a QB just not screw up will give us an edge. if we had that last year we might have won a couple more games.
