Lockout almost over says newspaper source...

I'll share one piece of business with you guys. I was at a graduation party today and the parent having the party has family in the Indianapolis Colts organization. Apparently the framework HAS ALREADY been agreed upon behind the curtains, they know when they're going to move forward and get this thing done, we just don't yet.

I was told they'll miss 1 to 2 preseason games and the plan will have the NFL regular season played in full BUT it will start a week after the original planned September 11 date.

Will be interesting to see if the guy nailed it, but figured I would pass it along to you guys.

if they heard it from irsay, it would be tough to buy. the dude is always either drunk, working on getting drunk, or hungover. probably only a 2 hour window that he's coherent.

I have no idea how connected the guy you talked to is, but that doesn't make much sense to me. If they already have the frame work done, why would they miss games and lose money and possibly fans? It has been stated by Robert Kraft that if they get the deal done by July 4th, they could have TC on time and start the preseason as scheduled. There would be no reason not to do that if the framework has been agreed to.

Part of me enjoys that money staying in my checking accout, the other part of me wants it over as for some of the games, have to make hotel reservations, and a couple of my friends will be flying down for a game or two.

Makes it real hard to plan anything with this stuff dragging on.

For those of us who play FF (and I know there are people who hate it) it is tough to not know what to do with drafts and such. How dare the NFL screw all of this up (facetious)

I was starting a bang up league this year too.. some "talented" fools were all going to join together.

Do you realize how much money the owners would lose by missing two preseason games?

Yeah, a ton. That is why I am saying I don't understand why the guy said they are gonna miss 1 or 2 preseason games if they already have the framework for the CBA done. It isn't logical. Why would they purposely lose money if they can have TC and preseason games on time? Also, he said the season will start a week later than planned, but I am sure they have big plans for the honoring the 10th anniversary of September 11th.

    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
    • Am I the only one who doesn't understand this fan bases infatuation with adding a high end TE? Especially when we have some bigger bodies in T-Mac and Coker who can slide into the slot at times and provide the big dependable target over the middle that most teams use their TE for. I mean, sure, it would be nice to have one of those elite TE's, but I feel like that's a position your better off going cheap with a committee who each bring something different to the table while spending our cap room on the more important positions. I like the potential we saw from Evans this year, Sanders could be a best if he can stay healthy, and Tremble has improved as well.  Just feels like spending high draft picks or cap space on other needs and more important positions is a better use of our resources than splashing on a TE in the draft or FA. Are those guys on the level of the Bowers or McBride's of the world?  Of course not, but we also are paying a fraction of the cost on our TE room than they are, and we're able to use that money for other needs.
