SSSOOOOOOOO WHAT!!!!!

Who died and made you forum monitor?

Here is an idea.....Post a valid comment or DON'T POST...

BFD if it is a new thread on an old topic....

YOUR "I See a repeat thread" IN every thread that is a repeat as annoying as your unrelated post just to post.......

So which is worse... repeating a thread....or being a whiny, crying, little B!TCH because someone posted the same thread again.

i don't know...maybe the worse thing is overreacting with a bunch of big bolded and colored letters after someone makes a little statement made yesterday saying that this thread is a repeat thread.

you don't want to have threads hijacked, ignore the posts that supposedly hijack them.

or switch to decaf.

We are going to slow the progress of two good young receivers to bring in a vet when we have Smitty? Don't see it happening.

We also have AE and Our incoming rookie.

There is NO room and if you do you will hinder the development of our FUTURE STARS.

If Smitty leaves... Yeah I see us bring one in to mentor our youth.

there are no guarantees that lafell and gettis are going to be future stars and we can't act like they will be. rather, we should be acting as if at least one of them will have a keary colbert type regression.

as far as having no room for added WRs...we are going to be carrying more WRs than ever in coming years. mainly this is going to be due to the offensive system. where we used to only have 5 WRs on the roster and only 3 on game day, that number will probably jump to 7 WRs and 5 active. the new CBA might allow for larger rosters so space will be even less of an issue.

we will most likely bring in another WR and it will leave edwards and pilares fighting for that last game day spot. if smith leaves, then we will probably be bringing in 2 WRs.

it would be great to see lafell and gettis turn into star receivers, but i would rather us go out and take advantage of the available talent and cap space that we have.

This is the worst argument I keep seeing about Gettis and LaFell...

we can either go the Colbert/Carter route and hope they live up to expectations (and live with mediocrity) or we can create competition and bring in solid receivers (of the #1 variety)..

players either grow or they don't. competition doesn't hinder, it actually provokes growth.

yeah...i feel like we have a much more competent group of coaches and i've got a lot of faith in them, but i can't get colbert and carter out of my head.

this system is going to be relying heavily on it's passing game and it will have 3-4 WRs on just about every play. we have to make sure that we have as many strong and capable receivers as possible.

then you add in the fact that we just drafted a QB #1 overall. much of his success is going to hinge on who he is throwing the ball to. sure, they could wait to draft alshon jeffery (or blackmon) next year, but they can't count on that happening and working out. they have to make sure they have talented guys for newton to throw to.

you can't throw lafell and gettis back in there along with an untested edwards and hope to see success.

you can't count on smith being here, being happy, and playing every game in the season.

you can't count on picking someone up mid season if your WR corps fails to do well.

you have to plan ahead and take advantage of cap space and available talent.

yep..

people living off pipe dreams need to realize LaFell and Gettis are not #1 receivers.. not this year, most likely not next year. I'll withstand from saying the year after, just to give benefit of doubt that they do turn into a true #1.. however, that's a long shot, that's far away, and that's a dumb f**king bet to make when you can ensure future success while they grow at the same time.

also, it's not even so much hoping Gettis and LaFell make further strides unlike Carter/Colbert. To me, it's more about putting all your eggs in that basket regardless of how Gettis/LaFell grow as players, like so stupidly did with Colbert/Carter... they should have been 3 and 4 on the WR list, however Fox, being a dumbass, tried playing them as 2 and 3.

doesn't really matter to the topic at hand, but i keep wanting to write malcom's name as malcolm. i typed it in google and saw that there is a malcolm floyd...malcom's older brother. does that strike anyone else as an odd? parent's thought that taking an 'L' out of the name was enough to differentiate between the two?

anyway...

Gettis and LaFell are not adequate, they are young players that show lots of promise. If we lose Smitty and start those two guys. Cam is gonna get fuggin murdered all day long just like Jimmeh.

The difference will be that Cam will make some gains and make some plays.

None of those guys would be an upgrade over Smith.

Santana Moss: above average, but still not better than Smith.

Edwards: doing what he should be doing, being the second receiving option on a balanced offense.

James Jones: the 3rd or 4th option on one of the most pass happy attacks in the league.

Malcolm Floyd: see James Jones.

Lance Moore: see the previous two.

Steve Smith (NYG): I do think he is a very good player and would be excited if New York let him walk.

Sim-Walker: He's a guy who helped people win there fantasy football leagues a couple years ago and has gotten too much recognition since. (Chris Chambers, Steve Johnson).

So with the exception of the other Steve Smith I'm not really excited about any of these guys as a replacement for Smitty. I would be fine with us bringing in one to play across from him or in the slot. Any of them would be a significant downgrade from Smitty if he leaves.

The point is having another receiver that is is a threat as well as Smith to create match up problems. At best Smith is here for another year or what if he gets injured.I like the idea of getting on of the big receivers that gets good seperation.

How can a new coach or anyone else predict what AE will do for the team.Barely any NFL film on him which is not his fault.I think they need to being in some serious competetion. We have to find a receiver that without a doubt can get open.
