Peppers/Cassel Trade Talks being whispered.

If you think about it, Cassel had kind of the perfect situation for an inexperienced QB. Everybody was so worried about Moss beating them deep, that he could just throw it to Welker underneath and let him run for 1st downs. That guy is virtually uncoverable, and he can consistently get you 4-5 extra yards.

Until teams caught on to how to slow them down. Smitty is a bad MF, but when three guys are on him the odds are slim for him to catch it. Jake will still air it out and smith would come down with a few. I wasnt complaining because Smith is awesome. Jake got lucky this year alot. If not from Smitty saving his ass, it was defenders dropping sure picks. Can anyone argue that?

Tom Brady threw the ball to a double and triple covered Randy Moss quite often in 07.

Hell, if you were the Panthers QB, who would you be throwing it to most of the time?

It's amazing how fans complain about Jake throwing the ball to his best WR, when analysts like Steve Young are wondering why he don't throw it to Smitty even more. Jake can't win no matter what he does.

I think that some of you guys lose sight of the fact that Jake's personality and play style means he's going to have those kind of games once in a while. You see a Manning or a Brady and they maybe do a fist pump on touchdown catches, and Jake runs 40 yards to hug the guy in the endzone. He's emotional and that can bite you badly when you throw a couple early picks or get rattled.

I was 50 yard line 1st row on the Panthers' sideline at the Oakland game, and after Jake's 2nd pick he looked frazzled and was very hyper when talking to the coaches and looking at the photos sent down to the field. It happens.

On the other hand he can make some great throughs when the rhythm is going and he starts feeling good and getting excited, i.e. SB Vs. New England.

You gotta take the good with the bad, it just so happens that the bad (worst, actually) was the most recent in our minds...

Just My $.02

I'm not attempting to be pro-Cassel when I say this...but it's time we want a QB who isn't "Bad Jake" or bad whomever. We shouldn't have to accept that our QB is GOING to have a few bad games a year. I want a QB who rarely has one. This could easily be its own topic but I'm just saying it here. I know we all love Jake's passion...but we need to strive for better.

This is classic. Are we talking about a back yard football game? If so then yes. So you love Jakes style of play? And Steve young was saying Smith needs to GET the ball. Steve didnt say to throw a Hail Mary every play into triple coverage.

eh, you could easily argue Randy Moss bailed out Tom Brady (and claim he got lucky) during there record breaking season. Brady would chunk it up in coverage and let Moss try to make a play...and he usually did. Jake and Smith have great chemisty. I know we can find a better overall QB but no way we find someone w/ that chemisty w/ Smith. With a solid run game and good defense, Jake is perfect for this current team b/c of what he and Smith can do together. We need something that remotely looks like a defense and we will be fine.

Settle for less then.

Huh?

If you actually paid attention to what Young said, you would notice that he said its the way in which Smith gets the ball that bothers him.

In other words instead of the luck, hail mary, run your WR straight out of bounds throws, Young said to get Smith the ball more in space, and lead him better so he can kill it with his YAC.

In more other words, short accurate throws, slants, ins and crossing routes.

Not hail mary, and deep outs, or those straight along the sideline bull shits.

In some more other words, you'd be crazy to think that a HOF QB doesn't know what he is talking about in this situation.

He even pointed out how Jake lead smith straight out of bounds on several throws, and pretty much did diss how Jake is totally mishandling this potential HOF WR.

Well, if you're saying that's what Delhomme did on every play, then you're an idiot. He did that about 3-4 times in 16 games.

Bottom line...if I'm trading Peppers, it will be for draft picks, not an expensive QB that may or may not be any better than what we already have.

Ok, how many times did Delhomme hit smitty in stride. I bet less than 5 times all seaon. We agree on the trading cassel for peppers part. As far as Delhomme being our QB, not any chance. I want someone to have a fair chance at being QB. Not a shoe-in for Delhomme.
