Peppers/Cassel Trade Talks being whispered.

I just cant fathem your theory. Calling one guy a one hit wonder in one hand and saying another just needs a chance in the other. You should go to the combine so you could spot the busts.:smilielol5:

I am sorry, but where in my statement did I ever say that Cassel was a "one hit wonder"

The theory that Cassel has done more then McCown, to me, is flawed.

McCown was pretty darn good in Arizona, plus he's been around longer and has been in more than one system. Not to mention the fact that he's already here.

Stats? I will let you google for them. I dont want to waste my time on something I dont agree with.

What has McCown done? You said McCown has done more than Cassel.

Cassell has 10 wins as starter w/ an offense that was the best in NFL history the season prior w/ the best coach in the NFL currently. Cassell is an illusion.

I think that some of you guys lose sight of the fact that Jake's personality and play style means he's going to have those kind of games once in a while. You see a Manning or a Brady and they maybe do a fist pump on touchdown catches, and Jake runs 40 yards to hug the guy in the endzone. He's emotional and that can bite you badly when you throw a couple early picks or get rattled.

I was 50 yard line 1st row on the Panthers' sideline at the Oakland game, and after Jake's 2nd pick he looked frazzled and was very hyper when talking to the coaches and looking at the photos sent down to the field. It happens.

On the other hand he can make some great throughs when the rhythm is going and he starts feeling good and getting excited, i.e. SB Vs. New England.

You gotta take the good with the bad, it just so happens that the bad (worst, actually) was the most recent in our minds...

I totally agree with you. But when will we quit settling for less?

Re-read my statement and you'll know that I never said that.... I said that if you put McCown in a winning situation like here (Carolina) that he will have success.

Lets look at the facts, shall we?

McCown has played for the Cardinals, Raiders, and Dolphins before ending up in Carolina.

His most success was with the Cardinals. The Raiders kept switching up QBs and never really gave him a shot. Plus, McCown was put into a bad position on a bad team at that time.

Then he comes to the Dolphins where he never truly got a shot to play because the Dolphins were more high on Pennington.

Then you look at Cassel

Comes from a successful college team, USC and played under Pete Caroll and behind Matt Leinart.

Gets drafted by yet another successful team with playoff experience and sits behind a Pro-Bowl QB in Brady. Then when Brady goes down, he comes in with all the talent and coaching around him.

Lets see, which one was in the better position? Cassel or McCown.

getting a first rounder this year > cassell.

we have greater needs than QB. For all of you guys wanting a glorifying passing attack, piss off. We're a run first team made with tools of a run first team. We need defense to keep opposing offenses from scoring, and we need a tough running game that wears opposing defenses down, not some twat that can throw the ball 30 times per game "pretty accurately" on dumpoffs. We use the pass to complement the run, that is all.

If people are going to use the playoff game as an example of why we can't have Jake, also note the fact that we were passing way too much. Hell we let them get to a 14-7 lead and we literally stopped running the ball. That is an example of trying to do something on a team that is not mean to be done. Which is why Cassell wouldn't fit. He comes from an offense that passes the ball a lot. This will be Kurt Warner from St Louis to NYG.

Don't get me wrong Peter G, I know we could do a lot better at QB, I just think a lot of people think you can take any QB and plug him into any system and he will shine from day one. We are a team that is on the cusp of winning a championship, and I feel that with all the bad he brings to the table, Jake Delhomme is still our best option with the team we have now. He knows the system, has the respect and support of his teammates, etc.

It's hard to bring in someone new at the QB position of a 12-4 team to get them over the hump to a title.

Now if we have a dissapointing season and Foxy gets let go and you are bringing in a new coach and system and everything, that's when we make the transition with a new franchise QB.

Let me re-phrase. You are calling a bust and a keeper. That is pretty brave, or impressive.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
