Peppers/Cassel Trade Talks being whispered.

No, he was specifically talking about that last game and how it usually takes any player two years to fully get over a major surgery, such as the Tommy John proceedure. He's not the first to bring up this point either. Mark Schlereth said that his son, who is a pitcher, had that surgery, and that he wasn't really his old self until two years later.

Who knows though, I'm really more worried about Jake getting his confidence back than anything else. Either way, I don't see this Cassel thing happening, because I believe they would go with McCown before spending a bunch of money for a guy who had one good season.

So why do you play a guy that is not 100%? Why do you risk your career if you arent fully back to shape? Take away the SB run season and what do you have from delhomme?

Jake has played w/ a bad elbow his whole time almost in Carolina. You still have a QB that has taken you the post season 3 times in 6 years at QB. A QB, even when you factor in the egg he laid this past year has one of the better postseason resume in comparison to the rest of the league.

Does anyone think a QB may be one of the missing pieces. Jake gets by because of our run game. Just getting by will never cut it. My theory of a good team must be off. I thought to have the best team, you need the best available players(off the bench or FA). This is not a slam Jake episode. I like the guy, I just dont think he can get it done. How many passes in his career have you said WTF?

We could have a Cardinals type offense if we had a playmaker behind center. Not saying Cassel is the answer, just venting.

Delhomme can put up excellent numbers in a passing game....just check out the 2005 Season where our RB's were all on injured reserve. He threw for almost 4,000 yards and had 29 TD's.

Fox has a run first offense....thus, we would not have a Cardinals style attack no matter who is under center.

Maybe we just use the tools we have.

2004 was the 29TD season. We also finished 7-9.

Jake has only had a good run game 2 years in Carolina. Those 2 years the run game was great. That's it. 05's run game was nothing to talk about. Both times he took us to the playoffs. We have the offense right now but not the defense. What is the point of ignoring your weakness and messing up what works? Jake had a horrific game, it happens. How many teams in the NFL have QB's that have had more success in the past 6 years? Ben, Brady, Manning, and then? Again, Jake has taken Carolina to the post season 3 times in 5 years (Not counting Carr/Vinny year) w/ 2 NFCCGs.

For the same reason that lots of players play less than a year after ACL surgery. Everybody will tell you that they are never completely 100% mentally and physically ready in the first year, but almost all of them still play unless the team has a better option.
