Peppers/Cassel Trade Talks being whispered.

And???

They already have a starter.

They tagged Cassel as insurance. If Brady is on schedule (all accounts are he isn't) and someone bites on Cassel, Pats win. If Brady falls behind Cassel buys them another year, and they can decide where to go from there.

Regardless of the talk, I'll be shocked if they deal Cassel before they're positive Brady is ready, if he is they'll deal Cassel and draft another 7th rounder to make the second coming.

I don't know what the love affair with Cassell is all about. He didn't make the playoffs with the "Same team" that set offensive records in 07. Sorry I am ready to pay 75 mil for a player that aint worth backup QB money.

I don't blame him and NE tagged him and he will get that ONE YEAR payday. I hope we don't bite on what they are offering.

Go Panthers

Yeah, you see their record? They should have made the playoffs. Not to mention a bad running game and a very old defense. Wake up.

Do you really want to pay 75 million bucks to this guy?? We have no clue what he would do outside of Belichicks system and you are ready to throw the highest contract on our team at him. He played with Randy Moss and Wes Welker in the slot man. Their offense is COMPLETELY different than ours. We don't have a slot outlet nearly as good as Welker. I'd rather get a draft pick for Pep and pick our own QB.

Yeah, that bad running game that was sixth in the league in rushing yards per game, and awful defense that was 10th overall in yards per game, 8th in points per game. Seriously, do you have any clue what you're talking about before you open your mouth?

I can understand people not being able to let go of the playoff game just yet and their reaching for straws, but they need to come back to reality. Trading Peppers and spending 15 million on a QB that never even played in a college game and has had one season in a system something akin to a West Coast offense that he was able to study under for years is something much like insanity...

No it is Insanity, just normal old Insanity.

Agreed. Is there a chance he is actually great? Yes, of course. But who's going to be willing to spend all that money just to find out? Too much risk.

honestly, we could do a lot worse than cassel. draft picks are gambles as well. lets say we get a 1st and a 3rd....either one could amount to special teams fodder or they could be great. cassel has been a product of systems and that was the knock on him when brady went down last season. cassel stepped in and shocked a lot of people and showed he was capable. product of belli-cheat's system? -- maybe. the money investment is not great but we could end up with worse assetts than a soon-to-be 27 year old qb. i'd personally rather get some good draft picks and get a little younger, but i wouldn't cry if we got cassel.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
