Peppers/Cassel Trade Talks being whispered.

Plus the fact he's tagged, I think he's defiantly a good prospect about the same as Schaub (remember all the hype about him a few years ago). But he's not worth what he's trying to get paid.

There is really no downside for Cassel no matter what happens this year. If the Pats can't get a good trade or he doesn't want to renegotiate a new deal and go somewhere and Brady is ready, he sits on the bench and makes about what Brady is due to make. And his value doesn't go down because he still has 2008 for his resume and nothing bad to mar it in 2009. He will then be an RFA next year and would have to be paid at 110% of his salary for 2010 in NE as the CBA stands right now I beleive. If he stays and Brady isn't ready, he's one more year comfortable with largely the same or even better team on offense. If he does get traded, he gets some long term security and big bucks. That's probably why he signed the tag contract as soon as they plopped that mofo down on him. :D

Dont know what this is being rumored since we have 2 QB's behind Jake that could do what Cassel does.

But but but neither one of them is good enough to be tagged by the Patriots. Like Fireball said Cassel found the golden ticket, if there were no doubt on Brady's return Matt would have be on the street right now.

The Pat's were in a bind so they tagged him now he's being paid as a top 5 QB so he must be one right?

Considering his last contract was 4 years and 1.4 million and in 2009 he will make 10 times that alone, who wouldn't jump on that contract. I bet it is for more money than he even thought he would make.

Maybe...I don't know if I would go that far... but Mickey D is a helluva coach. He may even be able to triumph over Cutler's ginormous ego...lol

it was a little tongue in cheek anyway, but...theres just something about those patriots.

I mean they even did a running back by committee type run game and still boasted top ten yards gained on the ground.

it's weird that Denver hires an offensive coach when their defense was absolutely atrocious last year.

Yeah that was weird, I agree. But Belichick usually cross educates most of his younger guys on staff to develop them as well rounded coaches and Mickey D is no exception. He has personnel experience I believe and I think he was a defensive QC guy or something of that nature for a bit also.

If Cassell is that great, then why aren't the Patriots trying to sign him to a long term deal? Even though Brady is considered one of the all time greats, he will be 32 when the season starts and is coming off a knee surgery that usually takes two years to recover from, and is rumored to not be ready for the season....whereas Cassell put up 3700 yards last year, got Moss 1000 yards and 10 + TDs, and got Welker nearly identical stats to his 2007 season...and it's only Cassell's first year. So again, why in the world would the Patriots be interested in trading him to the highest bidder?

Cuz...DUHHH when they get Pep from Carolina in the trade for Cassel they are gonna put PEP as QB. What do you think Pep meant when he said he wants to reach his potential? ;)

I thought that's why Pep wanted to go to Miami. WILDCAT FORMATION + PEPPERS + HENNING = SUPERBOWL!!111
