Cassell last years Anderson

Anderson got hurt this season, one of the reason's he struggled. Also they had I can't Catch anymore dropping everything in sight. I still like him more then Cassel though by a long shot. Anderson is mobile, can at least read defense's, and has arm strength. Something Cassel doesn't have.

I think it boils down to alot of us have lost confidence in Jake and ready for a change at the first sign of poor play.

Which is no different than a lot of fans have felt since 2004. The important thing is that his teammates and coaches HAVEN'T lost confidence in him.

As to your contention that you want a QB who has only 1-2 bad games a year vs 2-3 is that difference in this offense worth that kind of money and (if Pep isn't involved) draft pick gamble that Cassel may be one of those? How many QBs are there in the whole NFL who have only 1-2 bad games/year? Maybe 1-2. This year there really weren't any I can think of (MAYBE Warner though I can think of two he was bad in right off the bat..vs NE and vs the NYJ) because the of the fact that the two most consistent QBs in the NFL, Manning was off for awhile and Brady was on IR...and yes they both have 2/year normally. How many of them have 2-3 bad ones/year and get paid more than or around what Jake does? Probably some of those as well.

Whoever found that article it says in more detail & with stats what you would have seen had you watched Cassel all year.

MC, I am not worried even 000001% about Jake's having lost confidence either...he's very mentally tough.

IMO one of Jake's strength's is at times his biggest weakness. He plays QB with the mentality of a CB, very short memory, lives in the moment. Forgets a bad play as soon as it's over.

The down side is he doesn't seem to learn from mistakes, and doesn't mentally acknowledge his weaknesses.

I'm not sure if it is that he doesn't acknowledge them or learn..I think it's more that at times he just has too much confidence that there is a play to be made ALWAYS instead of living to fight another day at times when he should (i.e. throwing it away). I know that in reading comments he has made this past year, times when he has explained some of his INTs after watching film he has said they were more bad throws than bad decisions (which is better than vice versa IMO). I do think the TJ has been a factor. We shall see.

My take is that the bad throws were more a part of his inconsistent accuracy due to the TJ and he won't ever make excuses like that (blaming injuries, etc.) so he says they were simply "bad throws". He hasn't been able to use his regular throwing motion since about 2004. He was relearning this year and compensating for elbow problems since 2005. He's a guy who loves to be coached hard. I don't think he doesn't want to acknowledge his weaknesses. In fact, he's often commented about not having the strongest arm, etc.

That's funny, because I'm pretty sure Jake played cornerback in high school.

Remember that interception he actually caught back in training camp when he and Steve were playing defense. :P

I'm not talking about last year and from what I've observed it didn't start in 2004. He's always forced throws, heck he forced 5 in the 03 Jacksonville comeback that put him on the map. Two went for TD's two were pick'd.

Like I said he's fearless that can be a good thing (we've seen how bad cautious QB's can be) but it's also what makes him so bad when he's off.

I agree completely, espn did an piece on him and Ryan and they said the surgery was a reason for him being so inconsistent this past season. Said it usually takes a full year after recovery time to get to 100 percent.

I think the whole "Cassell" subject is way overrated. This guy is mainly getting his attention because he comes from the New England franchise.

Plus the fact he's tagged, I think he's defiantly a good prospect about the same as Schaub (remember all the hype about him a few years ago). But he's not worth what he's trying to get paid.

I am calling for a new QB more than anyone but Cassel? really? Us as fans are going to have to suck it up and hopefully put up with Jake Delhomos ups and downs (really just downs) for one more year. We need other things on the defensive side then to be throwing out money at a kid who played one year. Hopefully we can some how get in the first (trade peps to browns?) and snag sanchez or another qb
