they'll work out a deal where he can stay here. as for smith....meh. main thing is they get the most value for him. i'm not counting on him being here. the fact that he wants to leave and the panthers obviously aren't interested in putting up a fight for him is going to cause his value to be around a 3rd or 4th rounder.

no sense in keeping a guy that obviously unhappy around when you are trying to build a team and get them excited about what they are doing. he's talented, but him with a bad attitude can do more to hurt the team than losing someone with his talent. he can be replaced. fortunately they'll have the cap space to do it and they aren't oblivious to the fact it needs to be done and are set on making sure it is.

btw....no way would he be doing this if fox was the coach and there wasn't the lockout going on. i can't imagine that smith is happy at all about his laundry being aired, either.

meh. the goal wasn't to tank last season. the goal was to be in a position to make the team significantly better when a new CBA is reached.

last season was just a casualty, but the only real impact it had was putting us in position that we could draft our franchise QB.

the team will have a new coaching staff and lots of roster space and cap room to pick up a lot of talent.

we may lose smith, but we'll still be better off overall...esp. in the long term.
