Well, this is interesting.

yeah, if it happened, great.. and maybe I doubt we'll make the playoffs regardless, so I'm not putting much stock into the upcoming year. There is a lot of change coming up and retooling this franchise.

for once, fans need to be patient..

Titans (home)

Lions (away)

Colts (away)

Bucs (away)

Falcons (home)

Texans (away)

Bucs (home)

Saints (away)

Even winning all the homE games, winning 2-3 road games would suffice. Unfortunately the schedule is hard.. So you're probably right man.

They would not keep the current sched. They likely would rework it to 6 division games (each team home and away) and 2 nondiv games (1 home 1 away).

If they really do play an 8 game season, then they better rework the schedule too. I'm sure there will be teams that only play 2 or 3 home games while others will have 5 or 6 home games.

So you'd rather not have a season at all?

How could you not care about making the playoffs, even if it is in 8 games? Playoffs are playoffs man.

I'm just saying it would be a crappy year for football and winning, what, five games would mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

An eight game season is a failure by the league, and by extension a failure by our team.

The only way I would really see it as a positive is if we won the whole thing. Which I don't think would happen.

I understand where you're coming from.

Still, the experience itself would be very good for the team. Especially with the rookies and 2nd year people. They would definitely grow more with all this if they did somehow make it to the playoffs. Even if for one game. Experience is always a good thing.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a failure either. Especially if you weren't expected to win 2 out of 8 games and actually made it into the playoffs to begin with.

Right and I can see what your saying, but I just think an 8 game season will consist of more randomness than anything. There will be little time to prepare and get everyone on the same page, so I think games will be won by individual players making plays and not team chemistry or concepts.

I'm just saying that I would take more positive things away from a 7 win team in a 16 game season because of the sample size and having more time to develop a "team". I think it would mean the offensive and defensive systems are sound. Winning 5 or 6 games in an 8 game season could end up being nothing more than luck. I wouldn't take it to mean a lot.
