Was at work all day so didn't even get a chance to watch Nintendo's Press event till now...my thoughts....

So first look, the controller looks....weird. The analog sticks lever area with at least 6"-7" apart from each other seems like it would uncomfortable. Especially with 2 triggers right next to them. So...once again it seems like they want me to play with my wii controller/numchuck for my fps....sigh. But after thinking about it.....the EA president did have some good ideas. Madden looking even more like a real game cause all the play calls will be on the controller, no more worrying about the person your playing seeing your play calls. BF3 or COD playing, and having all your ammo info and map on your controller screen looking very clean and realistic.

To finally have HD though I'll be happy about. No more playing Mario Kart or Zelda on my 46" and wondering why I'm doing it. I'm very iffy about this...but I'm stil going to hold out on final thoughts till more info comes out....also I doubt they stick with the god awful name of Wii U...jesus really? I mean they called the wii what revolution? So I hope they change it. If not then its just a port from the Wii in many people's eyes with a HDMI port.....I also wonder what the starting price would be especially with a controller that has a 6" screen built in.

They also probably waited on Zelda for this console for a reason. They had really bad demo with the "wii motion plus" and put such a big role on how you "twirl your sword" in the game they probably realized it was going to bomb on such a huge title for them. I'm really hoping Zelda does well, its one of my favorite childhood games, I remember hours on hours with SNES Link to a Past.

The Wii U looks like an upgraded Wii with a giant GBA for a controller.

Thats the sitgma that they are going to have to overcome and sell to people. It's like they are already making a handicap for themselves.

I gotta say they are making some good titles for the 3ds. Lugi's mansion ftw, starfox, mariokart some great titles

My problem is that it's not really next gen and they are basically upgrading to 360 and PS3 graphics...both of which will be even better when this releases. The tablet is innovative but still really just a gimmick that still alienates hardcore gamers. It looks awkward right now, but you can't really judge too much till you get more info on it...we see designs change all the time (boomerang sony controller).

Finally some good news to see more Franchises will be coming to it. It will be interesting to see how Nintendo plays this especially if MS tries to announce their next gen next e3.

some hands on reports saying it looks deceivingly awkward and it feels pretty light and comfortable

lol @ 360/ps3 graphics

Yeah I've heard that it feels pretty comfortable I just don't know how much so for extended play on it.

Here's a pretty good write up on its first impressions in play through the tech demos along with some good points:

It's kind of hard to gauge what type of graphics this thing will have when it actually has games up and running, but the pre rendered cut scene was nothing to get too pumped up about. It'll take actual games to do that even though it looks like 360 and Ps3 won't have to sweat being overpowered.
