Sometimes I fix neighbor's and family friend's computers and XP is way too susceptible to malware these days. I've been making WAY too much money off that as well. One reason I've switched to a computer related major.

It's too soon for a new OS already.. windows 7 is good enough for a couple more years.

People need to use noscript. As you say, XP easily gets viruses from websites that run scripts in the background (BTJunkie and PirateBay are notorious for this, but other sites do it too).

Noscript can be annoying sometimes but it's a lot less annoying than having to remove a virus.

Also keeping XP up to date helps. I like it a lot as an OS and I ran NoScript even when I used 7, so it's no hassle for me now. M$ has said it'll support XP until 2014 iirc.

that's good that you know what but 50 year old people don't hah. I got 50 bucks the other day just for fixing an 8 year old computer. I told him i didn't want that much as it was a poor value but he didn't care. He wants me to secure his laptop next.

Windows 7 is solid enough. I liked XP more than 7 though. They are giving up functionality for stupid options. If these were cool options that are used by the every user it'd be OK but I think they are going in the wrong direction. I guess I'll be trying a MAC soon.

looks great for a tablet type of application, but for standard PC it is the suck.
