we humans were the product of an engineered slave species that was intended to farm gold and serve alien overlords... basically avatars in a medieval MMORPG but in what we see as real life...

think about why gold was originally seen as a status of wealth... do you know why? do you have a good explanation of why gold, in ancient civilizations, was seen as power and wealth?

don't give me the "it was a precious rare metal that didn't tarnish" line either...

then what's the point of having us around now?

gold is shiney and heavy, dumb people like shiney things and it proved your power by the knowledge that you had to have had a labor force to acquire it

not saying your theory isn't true, but you lost me at the gold part

Another theory of mine is that we are probably much more likely to be visited by machines than acual life forms. Machines would have a much longer lifespan than they're organic creators, and it wouldnt be a big deal for them to travel for thousands of years across space to reach us. (or they could be self-aware machines that have self-replicated thy're own form of logical resoning, and are acting independently...)

Hopefully, if they do come, they will be friendly, and only interested in sharing technology, but i think it would be more likely that they would be probes that are sent in order to prospect the mineral content, and survivability of our atmosphere in order that theyre creators may someday come to enslave us and claim the Earth for themselves.

sounds like you should make that a TV series, movie, etc.. ;)

maybe the creation won their independence? maybe another force intervened and drove the creators off? maybe the creators mated with the creation, and bred themselves out?

I didn't make up the gold thing... I was just putting it out there (I've read the theory before)

Yeah, it does sound like a movie on the sci-fy channel, but i really think that both of my ideas are pretty solid.

Think about it..... Yadda, Yadda, Yadda (shortened for readability)..... I just dont really think that technilogically, we humans have anything to offer to a vastly surperior society that would have the technology to travel among the stars, when we barely have the technology to travel to our own moon.

not to mention you would have to have a fuel tank nearly the size of the moon

you'll also have to provide artificial gravity at some point, as the effects of being weightless for an entire lifetime will be devastating to your skeletal/muscle system...

Are you guys nuts (rhetorical for Tyler D)? It was all laid out on a platter for us in the Jodie Foster movie.....
