why does everyone keep mentioning "cheap"? money isn't that much of an issue. this team will likely have to work hard just to get up to the cap minimum. even signing out corps and our rookies and extending beason is going to leave us really short of hitting the cap minimum.

also consider that this is a team that likes to spend when it has money (aside from last year). it has kept close to the cap max for years.

this year this team is going to seriously get into the FA market and it's going to be spending a lot of money. it has to.

No one's saying we won't pay the money, but is he REALLY worth that much money? Is he still a force to be dealt with? is the real question.

Exactly, yes having a nice VET WR would be nice but it's not a NEED. Like the DT and Secondary position is.

I'd rather see our young receivers get as many reps as possible in both practice and game situations. I feel really good about our young WR core, a couple or more are going to emerge. A successor to 89 may even me on that list.

So you're positive Steve Smith will be a Panther next year? You're sure David Clowney will get a contract after the lockout is done? So you're sure that Armanti Edwards will actually amount to something in the NFL? Take those guys out, you have Gettis, who's a very promising wide out. LaFell who's another great prospect, and Pilares who seems to fit the slot position.

The only reason we'd need a Vet WR is becuase smith leaves and we'd be left with second year wide outs and a rookie.

There's not a need for an over the hill vet at the wide out position. So Plaxico is out of the question. He won't grow with who ever is QB, whether it's Clausen or Newton. So getting a Vet wide out under 28 would be ideal.

I have to believe that prison has changed Plax, hopefully for the better. After loosing as much as he has due to an accidental firearms discharge (it's not like he hired somebody to shoot his preggers GF), he should be ready to get back to being "the man" he always thought he was. We could get him for a song and that matters when we have so many needs @ LB, DB and DT.

Even if Smith stays, Plax could be a great slot with X speed on the cross. Just imagine how Smith's numbers would soar with a threat like Plax lined up in the slot or on the opposite side of the field. I'm sure it will take at least a season for him to get his legs back and get into "football" shape, but if he's a changed man (see Mike Vick) he'd be quite the asset. Besides, Cam will most likely wait till the bye to start, giving him time to work with Plax while he's getting in shape. Timeline wise, it would work pretty well.

So count me in the "Plaxico FTW" group.

plax isn't. i've got no desire to have to have that guy around here.

now as far as guys like sidney rice, braylon edwards, malcom floyd...absolutely we should be spending money to get one of these guys.
