Local Honey

where do you get yours fuzz, and how much is it? i just ran out this morning, and the guy at the farmers market seems expensive.

Off of middle sound loop, but I live over that way.

What you are paying is pretty close to what I got it for.

Also try Eagle Island Seafood and Market. The honey is from Southport, but it's seemed to do the trick as well.

the guy at the market is from Burgaw I believe so about the same distance away as Southport.

Whats the name of the place at Middle Sound Loop? There isn't a weekend that goes by that I don't get into town.

I can't remember the name, but if you get to the school, stay straight and it's down about 2 miles on the left. It's someones home that sells honey and veggies.

You should check to see if you have a local beekeepers association. They may be able to put you in touch with someone closer that has honey.

$6.75 is not too bad for a 1 lbs. jar of honey, but I don't know how supply and demand is in your area.

I did read that the average winter hive loss was about 30%, so that may affect the supply and cost in some places.

I keep honey bees and have been doing so for about 20 years. I think eating local honey helps with my allergies of which I have almost none, knock wood.

I sell my honey for $6 per pint- cheap enough when you consider the work that goes into producing it - both mine and the bees.

by the way the helpful benefits for allergies, come from the pollen which is in the honey in minute quantities naturally - the honey itself comes from nectar of the flowers the bees visit - always get pure raw unfiltered honey - not pasteurized or microfiletered - filtering takes out all of the pollen.

I also make balms of bees wax and olive oil that will cure any cut or burn faster than the anti bacterial creams you buy at the drug store.

I used to live right down the road from that guy - he sells a few vegetables there too or at least he used to - dont know what sort of bee keeper he is.
