Player-organized workouts

more than likely, everyone is moving on. don't know that the players are going to be too upset. they may miss him, but we may end up hearing "addition by subtraction" said a few times this year again.

still, we don't know the circumstances. nearly 80 people on the roster right now and some of them have lives. i can imagine that arranging a completely voluntary workout was a logistical nightmare, that they had to just pick a few dates and said, "show up if you can". very likely since this was organized within the last month that some people had other arrangements made. i know shockey said he wasn't going to make it for the first couple days. smith may have something lined up as well.

too easy to read things between the lines that aren't really there at this point. thats the media's job, though.

The Rotoworld write up suggested that Williams and Johnson and Moore weren't there either. They just headlined Smith because then they could be overly dramatic and say he is being disgruntled.
yeah, they used joseph person's tweet as their source. they don't know crap. person didn't say anything about those other guys...just smith. not much more to read into it than that.

One way to test market is to decrease supply and watch how the market reacts. When you have a built in excuse where no one can definitively lay blame like in this case there is no risk. The owners are in no hurry. Or at least nothing even close to what players are experiencing or getting close to.

well, I can see how Smith gets the headline.....none of the other guys have contracts. Smith is under contract and is a Panther. Free agents might not of been invited. Matt Moore wasn't given a playbook for a reason......

yeah, that would be a bit risky. i know that the coaching staff would probably give it to guys who have been tendered, but that is one of those things that i would rather the team does than the players...esp. if i was one of the players. definitely above their pay grade...so to speak.

i do wonder if moore, williams, charles johnson, kalil were all given playbooks by the coaching staff, though. if they were around before the lockout began, i'm thinking that they might have gone in and talked to the coaches briefly or at least long enough to get a playbook.

I thought a report came out that the QBs got them (Cam and Clausen) and they specifically said Moore did not get one. I don't see the how it would be a good idea to make a copy of it and give it to a guy (FA) when it was clear the coaches didn't think he should have one.

I bet it was agreed all FAs wouldn't be invited to avoid such issues.

yeah...i don't know who has one and not, but it makes sense to be cautious given the circumstances. if they've been tendered, it's one thing. if they haven't then it probably makes more sense to leave them out of it. not sure where matt moore falls. i haven't seen if he was tendered or not.

he was tendered.

are we sure Moore hasn't received a playbook?
