Goodell still says fans want 18 games

So we covered how the added two games will affect the league, well how will it affect the fans?

In terms of ticket prices, they should stay the same or even go lower.

It all comes down to supply and demand.

If there is more product on the table, that means that the team has more chance to sell tickets. More tickets sold means more money made.

Pretty balanced article, I just go back to, you should know what your choice of career professions brings to the table (good and bad).....

18 game is a business move, consumers or fans usually side with quality while the owners and businessmen on the other side focus on quantity.

The fans have been fine with 16 games, saying 18 is what the fans want is fuging stupid. What we want is quality, and owners who don't look like jackasses fighting over extra money.

I'm all for it, solely for the fact that i don't have to spend $85 a piece for two worthless pre-season games

this below.. I'm thinking about football. I get everyone wants to stretch their dollar the best way possible, but as far as the quality of football, teams will suffer.. in turn, fans will suffer.

as a fan of a team who has battled through what seems like a constant injury bug every year.. I'm definitely against 18 games, and for good reason.

and as raleigh-panther mentioned earlier, if Goodell was really listening to the fans, he would promote reducing preseason tickets. expanding 2 reg season games minus 2 preseason games is going around his elbow to get to his ass while twisting words to make it sound rational.

Every record we have would be meaningless. Every new record would have an asterisk. Players would have to play more meaningless games once they locked up their division. Resting starters four weeks before the season ends. Who wants this?

I agree with your conclusion that we don't want or need 18 games, but not your reasons. Football isn't driven by stats the way baseball is and the NFL transitioned just fine from 14 games to 16 back in the 70s. And extending the season would simply mean teams lock up their playoff spots two games later, there wouldn't be more meaningless games.

Explaining the post above - my wife is making fun of me for writing "poo". I told her I didn't write "poo" I wrote "poo", and the site auto-censors it. I told her it also censors "fug". She asked me to prove it, so I did.

If this 18 game proposal is the reason why we cant get a CBA then I do not want

Jesus...do you people not do any reading or investigation before posting.

The 18 game season was pulled off the table by the owners in their first proposal.

Goodell's comments were accurate.

Given that fans pay full price for preseason games, I think that most fans woudl rather see 2 preseason and 18 reg season games....rather than 4 preseason and 16 reg season games.

Out of one mouth the Commish declares player safety is his #1 priority, and then with the other he pushes for a longer (18-game) season. Its all about the $$. The 4 Pre-Season games, for example, isn't for the players as much as it is about the $$. The last 2 pre-season games is for the bubble-players trying to make the team. Here's an idea - allow practice squad rosters to increase in numbers. This would eliminate the need for those 2 games. Again, that's not the focus, though - the $$ is.
