Gamble converted roster bonus

In another salary cap move that apparently happened earlier this month, the Panthers converted cornerback Chris Gamble's upcoming $10 million roster bonus to a signing bonus, allowing them to pro-rate it and spread it over the next five seasons. It appears that resulted in about $8 million in cap savings for 2009.

yea, I was wondering when the team was going to report that mess. Everyone's been wrong on our cap for over a month now. Gantt reported it when it happened. We've were at 17 million under when gross and peppers were signed and tagged.

That should have done it. With the cuts made today I felt we needed about 6 mill in more room. Come to find out they had already made 8 mill in room before Gross or peppers.

So I have us at 2 mill AVAILABLE in cap room right now. We can hold onto Lucas and trade him this weekend.

10 + 17 = 27 / 8 + 10 + 4.5 = 22.5 million, still around 5 million over if the gross contract numbers are right for this season.

Hey it works for me. Pepp is now royally screwed. We can sit and let him play and it not effect us in any way. I see the trade rumors of lucas now coming to fruition with him not being released. I would immagine they may have a trade partner already and we see this done Friday or Saturday.

Yea but we could pick up some mid tier guys like Rocky Bernard or Bretrand Berry to help out the defensive line if peppers leaves. To create a rotation

once we get rid of pep and lucas, and if we restructure jake, that should give us plenty of room to make a couple moves in F/A
