Cheerwine or Sun Drop?

I pretty much only drink water, vodka, and beer but Cheerwine has a unique flavor and is ok.

How someone can drink a whole can of Sundrop and not throwup from the sweetness is beyond me. And why is Sundrop so popular down here....is it because Southern Jesus was the spokesperson for it?

That, and, much like wings to Buffalo and cheesesteaks to Philly, it has become a symbol of the state of North Carolina since it was until recently, exclusive to NC and other parts of the Southeast. It also doesn't hurt that it tastes good.

So a soda from the Midwest is a symbol of the state of NC? Dale is the only reason for that then. He even had people around here convinced it was a "Southern Drink" taken from the all natural Sundrop springs that flow through Kannapolis NC. Getting Dale to promote it was pure genius. Without him, there might not be a Sundrop label today.

In fact, I am writing someone a strongly worded letter demanding they change the name to Daledrop. Who's with me?

No way dude... I had drunk at least 500 gallons of Sundrop prior to Dale ever pimping it. My family has drunk Sundrop for as long as I can remember and I'm old, that's a long damn time.

I heard a Cheerwine commercial on the radio the other day that was talking about (jokingly) how the Wall Street Journal said that Cheerwine had real wine in it and the ATF was going to raid the factory. They went on to say that "for all you Yankee, cops, feds, etc..There is no wine in it!"

I guess they plan on putting it out in all 50 states and they have a major marketing campaign going on with the slogan: "Born in the South, Raised in a glass." which I thought was pretty good. It caught my attention anyway.

Good marketing campaign.
