Newton to take part in player-organized workouts

All i want is for Cam to get acquainted with Kalil's butt and take like 1000000000 snaps and then go through his footwork for different drops and handoffs. I don't give a poo if he even throws a pass.

With Pike and Clausen critiquing his drop? I'd still rather he be in Florida unless Weinke comes with him to the workouts.

Now there's an idea, Weinke and maybe more importantly Dorsey (who is very familiar with Chud's offense) could show up at these player-only work outs with Cam's playbook and start installing some of the offense.

i remember reading somewhere that this was going to be a 3 week workout?

maybe i imagined it.

still...this will be good for everyone. the guys need this time together and they need to get their heads focused on football for a while.

if cam really has the best grasp on the playbook, this is really going to go a long way with the respect the other guys on the team have for him. one thing to remember, clausen has a copy of the playbook as well. now, chud and shula may have added a couple things to it anticipating newton getting drafted, but i'd be surprised if it was much.

we've got a good few older vets that are out there who should be able to keep things on a level that they should be on. it's a great opportunity for new leaders to really step up. that seems to be something that was really lacking heading into last year since richardson and hurney purged the roster of the 30+ year olds.

When I hit the quick reply I intended on saying there's no way they can do that... But with the lockout, I guess they can if they were accepted by the vets on the team... Hmmm interesting

i'm sure that gross and wharton as well as a couple other guys like beason have "coaches" who are being brought in to help with the different areas. the raiders used a company in georgia to run their workout. probably others have done that as well. i know in gross's other workouts with players that he used his trainer to help with conditioning.

Why in the hell would he let pickles or the big fish critique anything? If them two are a problem then just sit there and take snaps. Thats it. Do it til there are callouses on his fingers, then do it some more. Why is it important to remain in FL? Football won't be played til 2013 anyway.

Good, he might be decent by then, but only if he works continuously and at his current pace.

This lockout is a big scheme by JR to get Cam NFL ready by forcing no NFL thus making all other players worse and making Cam not as terrible with his 12 hour practices, 7 days a week, for 2 years.

Win/Win

So ... are these informal workouts going to be open to the public? Like could people go sit in the stands and watch?

Probably not, it would defeat the purpose.

Cam would literally have to fight all the people trying to suck him off just so he could practice his damn footwork.

It would be terrible for everyone involved. Can you imagine going to work with a black eye because some giant kid wouldn't let you give him a BJ?

it was basically doubting whether a bunch of guys getting together with no medical supervision or coaching instruction with a new offense was productive.

What's the depth chart? What about training? What about drills? What if someone gets hurt?

Yeah building camaraderie is cool but you can do that by playing paintball or something.

Only thing I can think if is the QB, Center exchange and just working on passing routes with WRS. Not much else to gain other then that.
