Newton to take part in player-organized workouts

These workouts will accomplish exactly what he said they would, allow him to participate with his teammates, build rapport and build relationships with his receivers. As the leader of the team he needs to establish himself as a leader with his peers on the team. It is a chance for him to begin to establish himself. Frankly he likely knows more about the playbook at this point than many of his teammates. Might be an opportunity to allow his teammates to begin to establish some trust in his abilities.

Just had Weinke on Sirius and he was VERY high on Cam's progress so far. Highlights:

1. He had learned 50% of the playbook so far, including different sets, motions and protections. He feels that Cam will actually be ahead of most vets in the system since not all of them have playbooks. He also thinks that the coaches will be amazed at how much he has already absorbed. They will NOT have to limit the playbook for him, but like all rookies, audibles and "check with me" will be rare.

2. He has changed his throwing motion so that he does not rock his shoulders anymore and his accuracy has improved.

3. He will compete for and win the starting job from game 1.

Miller, again mentioned the rumor that the league had threatened a fine if Dorsey continued tone involved. Weinke said he didn't know where that came from, but since Dorsey was living in the area, that he had invited him to contribute his knowledge of Chud's offense. He said that Dorsey is not working for the Panthers,and has not been in contact with Chud, so there should be no problem.

How many post in this thread are actually related to the actual topic...

I hope that Cam doesn't spend the entire time working in Charlotte. I hope he goes and practices with Kalil a little bit, picks up some of the movements and tendency of his receivers and goes back to Florida. If they are working out for two weeks I hope Cam spends 2-3 days in Charlotte. He can't get much in 2-3 but it will be a start and a good effort to make. I feel like the work he does at IMG is much more imperative than these workouts.
