FO post-draft breakdown of the NFC South

I'm pretty skeptical of that article. Yes, we suck at defending tight ends, but that's usually the WLB's duty, not safety. Also, Godfrey is garbage. This guy looked at some stats from last season without watching one Panthers game... Martin is a beast, he'll be pro-bowl this year or the next... Godfrey will be pumping gas in a few years.

If we could get a starting SS in FA to compliment Martin, a decent DE and maybe a corner.... we'd be set. Why the hell did we get rid of Chris Harris? idiots.

I like Munnerlyn's game... Gamble is getting old and doesn't have the edge he used to. If Joe Hayden comes into camp in shape and with his mind right, he should bring some stiff competition for Gamble and Munnerlyn.

Can't say that I agree with most of that. I like Godfrey and Martin fine and think they are different players, but I think we could bring in a quality player and let them fight it out for the last spot. I'm fine with letting Harris go, by the time this team is good again I feel like his career will be winding down. I don't recall us having a Joe Hayden, were you thinking of another guy?

Well I partially agree with the article. It is a fact we do a lousey job covering the TE and slot receiver. In foxball there seemed to be a disconnect between when the saftey and lbs should cover the TE.The bottom line is we seldom had an answer for the better receiving TEs and they were open most of the time.Another valid point is second line runs.....SMartan was one of the worst in the league for missing tackles. The bottom line is Marshall needs to be upgraded and we need an upgrade at the saftey position.

Honestly, until they mentioned McDermott in that article, I completely forgot he's our DC.

Same here.

I really think that Rivera and McDermott can and will do some nice things with the defense this season.

Now if the OLine can step up and block like two years ago....giving us a nasty run game...we can protect Cam's learning curve and maybe have some nice success this season.

the problems covering the safety is something that we have always had and it only got worse moving to a tampa 2. covering TEs and covering the slot has aways been a weakness of that scheme. i don't blame the safeties as much as i do the scheme.

CB opposite gamble and the interior of the dline are the major issues.

i do agree with the article that hardy should be replacing brayton. it's good to see hardy getting some attention. that cat's going to be a beast.
