Ray Lewis speaks on Lockout

Recommended Posts

Internet tough guy...lol

The only BOY in this conversation is the one you sleep with.

Insult me about my kids to my face, BOY!!!! We'll see how internet tough you think I am.

At least my double wide has running water and electricity and I don't have to spend my nights running my mouth at the INTERNET CAFE.

Chill out

I think I'll use my trusty magical stats machine to look this up:

Does the crime rate go up nationally between February and August?

First, we have to take out the obvious rise in the crime rate due to it being warmer during that period which allows people to be outside longer.

Next, we have to wonder if people lose their cool making the crime rate go up because of the fact that the NFL is in its off-season. Answer: no.

Ray Lewis' thought process is pretty messed up. If he thinks there are more than enough NFL fans (who are also serious troublemakers, and who will now have nothing better to do that commit crimes during the lockout) to put a decent rise in the national crime rate... then the man is crazy.

Hey, Ray, give some credit to your fans and get off your throne. We'll deal with the lockout and go on with our lives as usual. The criminals were there before it, and they'll be there during it and after it. Just because Sundays and Mondays are now free for them for those handful of game hours, doesn't mean a damn thing. As for the rest of us, we're not animals, sure I'll be pissed off there is no season, but crime won't rise.

I genuinely like Ray Lewis but the Ray Lewis of now is not the same Ray Lewis that was arrested. They did an ESPN special on him a while ago and he even admitted that he turned over a new leaf after being arrested.

I watched his interview in its entirety and I think people can get a different interpretation from reading it in the newspaper v. watching it live. The quotes make it sound like Ray thought that not having football would lead to higher crime. But, if you watched his interview he meant that statement to mean that crime would be higher because so many people rely on the NFL to earn their living (street vendors, etc). Those people will be out of jobs and crime will increase as a result. If you watch the interview, the ESPN person doing the interview even clarified his statement (that Ray was talking about impact to people that earn their living off NFL) because it sounded pretty bad when it first came out of Ray's mouth. Ray then clarified what he meant but you don't see this part printed in the news which was important.

Criminal #1: I'm so excited!

Criminal #2: Me too, friend. It's Sunday! Let's watch the game together!

Criminal #1: Yep! Then we will watch highlights on ESPN all night long, and sit in front of the computer and hit the message boards too!

Criminal #2: Don't forget Tweeting all night and all day Monday as well, and getting excited for next weeks games! I love having this stable way of life set up for me during the NFL season!

Criminal #1: I know, right? If it weren't for the NFL, I'd be out doing my normal crimes... but even MORE. Thank you, NFL, for keeping me busy a few days out of the week... what's that? LOCKOUT!?!?!?!?!?

Criminal #2: What will we ever do now?

Ray Lewis: "...watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up, if you take away our game. There's nothing else to do..."

Criminal #1 and #2: Ray is so right! There is nothing else to do! Our whole lives are the NFL and crime. Let's go do our thing!

THE END

That does change things slightly, but still makes Ray look like an ass for thinking the only way for people who make their money off the NFL during the lockout is to turn to crime. That would have to be a lot of people, all turning to crime, to spike the crime rate.
