I was very adamant that Newton wouldn't start. I truly believed that he would be brought along slowly. But I am going to eat my words before someone says "I TOLD YOU SO"

The more I hear about him and the fact that we do have a solid running game around him. The more I believe he will start and soon.

It might be like 2008 before the melt down. Except in reverse. Our running game will be strong and if we are anywhere near contention come late November early December stand by to open the passing game up.

With this lockout stuff, tough for Cam to play with 1st string offense fluidly before season starts. I don't exactly wish him to start in week 1 unless he just completely destroys Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen at practice by miles and miles.

Cam shouldn't have an issue with beating out Clausen. Although, I don't care who gets us there as long as we win a Superbowl before I die.

no rookie QB (or new/green starting QB) is going to be exactly fluid until they start developing real chemistry with the team and the best place to develop that is in real games. practice helps, but it's in battle that you really find out what people are capable of and who can be relied on. thats when you find out who can work with who and where the relationships really grow. it will take time and experience (and a bit of patience) for things to get fluid.

who did bucky hear this from? sounds like this is more coming from his head rather than from someone who is actually investigating.

i think it's true that they won't start him until he has a good grasp on the playbook, but thats what he's getting with weinke right now. bucky's thoughts seem to be leaving out the work he's been doing since the draft.

I'm not big on a lot of national beat writers, but I usually listen when Brooks mentions the Panthers because his "sources" with the Panthers are probably more credible than most.

Clausen needs to be put into an organization like the 49ers. He should do very well there. But I don't think his place is in Carolina. Coach Rivera would make him cry.
