Good News if you are worried about Cam

the thing is, for anyone who has worked with the kid and for anyone who paid attention to those that have, this is expected.

this is a huge part of the reason i was really impressed with him. the dude has an insatiable desire to be great. he has the physical and mental tools to make it happen. he has and is getting the education to make it happen. he's got the opportunity lying ahead of him. panthers have a very good reason for believing in this kid. they knew what they were doing.

:iagree:

IMO the only people who are surprised by this just weren't paying attention. :wink5:

What I want to know is how much leg room this board will give Cam if he starts this season. He has to learn a new system, work with new WRs, be in the NFL, and has yet to work with his coaches. He may struggle. But will this board understand that, or violently ask for his head on a platter?

I wasn't worried about his worth ethic to begin with. People comparing him to Russel are idiots. I am glad he is doing what I expected him to do I guess. We'll still never know if it will click on the field. It's looking good though. My main and really only concern right now is how well he is transforming into more of a pocket passer. I am not concerned with anything else and I am enjoying the pick the more I read about Cam. He does genuinely seem like a great guy and hopefully his work will pay off and the Panther's can have their first drafted 'franchise qb'.

I have always wondered, is your screen name FortySixand2 a shout out to the song by Tool? If so, REP

Former NFL QB Chris Weinke, who is working out with Cam Newton, believes the No. 1 overall pick is capable of starting on Opening Day.

"This guy wants it bad," said Weinke. "If he continues to work and stay focused the way he is right now, there's no reason he can't go in as the starter Day 1. The guy's got as much drive as anybody I've seen. The misperception from outside is that he was going to be challenged by the intricacies and the verbiage of the NFL. And I have not seen that at all." We'd bet on Newton beating out Jimmy Clausen, but the Panthers may also sign a veteran in free agency.

I was worried about Cam and owe no apologies for it. There were too many people willing to toss a coin with the first overall pick--someone else's coin. Nobody knew squat, so as we sit and watch the dust settle, it is nice to see this emerging. Oh, by the way.His stats? 0-0-0-0 with a QB rating of 0.0.

Bust!!

Two national titles at two different levels and a drive to be the very best. I think that is more than enough to believe in CAM NEWTON.

IT IS OK TO BELIEVE!!!!!

Don't POP an artery Dave. He's in the NFL. His reign in college is over. Now its time to prove he can win at the next level. Until he does, until I see him take a snap under center correctly, make reads like a NFL QB, go through his progressions first then bolt and become a franchise player. Until he dominates I won't believe he's our guy. Just because I don't believe now, doesn't mean I don't want him to become our franchise QB and a nightmare to the rest of the league. He has to prove it at the next level. Bottom line.

We'll See. I was in favor of drafting Cam. Figured he would work hard at first and build something. He wants to be recognized as a true NFL first line QB. All that said, what everyone should be more concerned with is down the road and the effort that will be put in. I believe he will continue to give us and himself that effort, but there is always temptations from hangers on or people wanting part of his time. That will be the true test. I don't even know if I could resist some of the things he will be facing later on. Sure would like to have that opportunity though.
