Good News if you are worried about Cam

Former NFL QB Chris Weinke, who is working out with Cam Newton, believes the No. 1 overall pick is capable of starting on Opening Day.

"This guy wants it bad," said Weinke. "If he continues to work and stay focused the way he is right now, there's no reason he can't go in as the starter Day 1. The guy's got as much drive as anybody I've seen. The misperception from outside is that he was going to be challenged by the intricacies and the verbiage of the NFL. And I have not seen that at all." We'd bet on Newton beating out Jimmy Clausen, but the Panthers may also sign a veteran in free agency.

I was worried about Cam and owe no apologies for it. There were too many people willing to toss a coin with the first overall pick--someone else's coin. Nobody knew squat, so as we sit and watch the dust settle, it is nice to see this emerging. Oh, by the way. His stats? 0-0-0-0 with a QB rating of 0.0.

But but all he carez about is da moneys and vacation...he tinks he doesn't have to works!!11!!1!

Whenever I hear anyone give those 2 reason for why Cam "will bust harder then any propect evah" I always point them to go do research and stop listening to your butt hurt bama and lsu friends.

This kid is working harder then some veterens in the NFL. The man is pushing himself to make that jump to the next level and I'm loving it.

This drive is probably one of the main reasons the Panthers drafted him.

the thing is, for anyone who has worked with the kid and for anyone who paid attention to those that have, this is expected.

this is a huge part of the reason i was really impressed with him. the dude has an insatiable desire to be great. he has the physical and mental tools to make it happen. he has and is getting the education to make it happen. he's got the opportunity lying ahead of him. panthers have a very good reason for believing in this kid. they knew what they were doing.

Exactly. I was impressed by Newtons work ethic ever since I started researching him. This shouldn't be much of a surprise but I love hearing someone else confirm it.

It seems like all the work ethic concerns have been addressed now we just wait and see if he can work the same majic as a Panther as he did as a tiger.

I wasn't worried about his worth ethic to begin with. People comparing him to Russel are idiots. I am glad he is doing what I expected him to do I guess. We'll still never know if it will click on the field. It's looking good though. My main and really only concern right now is how well he is transforming into more of a pocket passer. I am not concerned with anything else and I am enjoying the pick the more I read about Cam. He does genuinely seem like a great guy and hopefully his work will pay off and the Panther's can have their first drafted 'franchise qb'.
