He was issued jersey number 50 for the AFL's inaugural season, 1960, but switched to his familiar 00 the next season. The AFL permitted the unusual number because it was a pun on Otto's name (aught-oh). Otto worked diligently to build his body up to his playing weight of 250 pounds.

And yes he played in the NFL too.. After the merger he still wore 00. Not a common number but not disallowed

Ken Burrough wore 00 while a receiver for the Houston Oilers between 1971-1981.

00 is a swagified number. I'm still not convinced it is a legal number by today's rules but maybe so.

But either way I don't think that will be Cam's number.
