And profits.

With like 2 exceptions no nfl owner loses money on their stadium. Now the NBA on the other hand....

He's not doing this at all.

I think that the key this whole thing is a little of what you just said.

No NFL owner loses money on thier stadium......yet. IMO this is what this is all about. Preparing for the eventual waning of the interest in the NFL product.

The players are doing a money grab, and the owner are bracing for a downturn in revenue.

It's really weird you're willing to give the owners the benefit of the doubt re: their tactics even when all the facts fly in the face of that while the players side REALLY WANTS TO END THE NFL DRAFT or whatever

I am not happy with either, but I tend to side more with the owners, but that's just me.

IMO the owners know that there will be a downturn in the interest in professional football, it happens to every sport. They are probably just trying to protect themselves for when it does happen.

You know what caused those down turns in MLB, the NBA, and NHL?

Ironic isn't it?

Alright.

I'm there. I've almost got you. Let's follow your argument.

All leagues have downturns. Typically they're caused by work stoppage.

In your own words, the owners are preparing for a downturn.

They did this by creating a work stoppage.

And you still side with the owners?

I think that there is going to be a downturn either way. 3 days for the draft, 18 games, higher ratings year after year, etc.

In addition to that, states/counties/cities are much less likely to pitch in taxpayer dollars to help build new stadiums after the last 4 years in a recession.

I think that it's foolish on both sides, and I am not a proponent of what either are doing, but I know how it will turn out.

Are you saying that's going to lead to a downturn? Because those are all things the owners did/want.

In addition to that, states/counties/cities are much less likely to pitch in taxpayer dollars to help build new stadiums after the last 4 years in a recession.

how does that hurt the popularity of the sport?

I don't think that the draft, or more games will cause a downturn, just overall interest will diminish.

The NFL is the King right now, Mega TV deals, high seat costs, jersey sales, etc...there is nowhere to go but down.

It may not happen, but most things are cyclical.

uh all that paper says is that the WSJ and the WT are terrible business rags without a shred of integrity, something intelligent readers have known for a while. That doesn't say anything about your assertion that the NYT is a liberal magazine. Oh well they only criticized clinton 33% of the time what a liberal disaster!

Since you didn't answer to the fact that the NYT editorial page employs the son of fuging Irvin Krystal, or the biggest apologist for genocide and neo-liberal reform in the country in Thomas Friedman, perhaps I can bring up a larger example?

WHAT A LIBERAL RAG!

I look forward to the next pdf you pull from google that you haven't read which doesn't defend your original assertion

We have an entire forum for people like you to piss in each others' mouths. How about you take Highlandfire there and don't come back.

Actually it does, you pull something from 80+ years ago, mine is within the last 10 years. Just like a lib cherry pick that info. Everyone knows NYT is a liberal paper, because the majority their reader base is liberal. Not going to argue with a moron that will never admit they are wrong. Having a "token" or two conservative (or liberal) writers does make the paper any less bias, overall. Get over yourself, such a tough guy hiding behind your computer screen and keyboard.

and so are the conservs.;)

What is the reason nelson's court falls under the exception? If its a lawful reason, I'd agree with you. So far, they are 3 judges tangled in this mess, 3 are liberal, 2 are conservative. The 3 libs side with the union (every time), the 2 conservatives sided with the owner (this time and maybe the next time). Seems politics have everything to do with this case(s). Unless there is a good explanation why nelson's court is an exception to the law, the conservative judges are just following the law (at this point).
