Dareus plans to “make it hell” for Broncos for passing on him

Exhibit A: Sedrick Ellis

Exactly. You can add Long to that list and most other tackles that were drafted high their rookie year. I heard an offensive tackle say that the rookies have very poor hand and foot technique coming out of college. He said even a guy who was obviously more athletic and stronger than him would get used their rookie year until they figured out that technique trumps strength. Sometime between game 8 and 16, the rookie start figuring out things and things start to turn around for him. Unfortunately that is the same time that fatigue and the strain of a longer season and more intense practices start to take their toll as well. Resulting for most guys into a mediocre performance their first year.

He's not talking only about his first year

Hopefully after his first year he will find out that making statements about how he will make teams pay just becomes bulletin board material and motivates O linemen to school him. By his second or third year hopefully he will be smarter and wiser then to make statements like that.

Man, reading this whole thread surprises me but it shouldn't. Just a few short weeks ago M. Dareus could do no wrong, he was the baddest/meanest beast up for grabs in the draft and this board couldn't wait to get him, now he's just a "talk the talk" chump. I'm not directing this on anyone particular, just an observation. Amazing how soon people will turn on you.

“If I ever get a chance to play Carolina I’m going to make them pay for passing up on me,” Dareus told Michael Irvin on WQAM Monday via BuffaloBills.com. “Denver I’ll get a chance to play them in the regular season and I’m going to make it hell for them every time I play against them.”

Like some of us don't regret it enough already...

Whatever you gotta do to motivate yourself, pal!

ummmm...not sure what you were reading, but he was far from being the consensus favorite around here. newton had a lot more support than him (and a lot more hate).

for one, i never liked the idea of drafting him at number 1. anywhere in the top 5 was a stretch, tbh. just a solid player, but nothing spectacular. fairley would have been a better choice just based on upside. still, unless your last name is suh, i'm not a fan of any DT going in the top 3-5. way too much of a crapshoot.

/old discussion

now moving on.
