Dareus plans to “make it hell” for Broncos for passing on him

huh?did you not just do the same thing here.

Show me where I quoted a stat and used that to determine his NFL success. I talked about his talent, not his stats. Very different things.

You can talk about stats but you must also talk about the "why" in regards to those stats or they are meaningless.

Is Cam Newton really the most effecient passer in colllege football history?

Is Timmy Chang or Colt Brennan really the most productive QB college football has ever seen?

Was Jimmy Clausen really that dominant in college then all of the sudden couldn't play or was he propped up by a scheme and 3 NFL caliber receivers?

Well, genius what do you want to look at? High school stats?

You are not very smart are you?

And by the way, I looked it up. In Dareus's biggest game of the year against his team's biggest rival, he recorded 1 solo tackle after the second possession of the game. He had 2 total tackles in the game. Typical for him. He got his a** kicked and didn't show up when his team needed him most.

In comparison, Fairley was an absolute terror in the game. Multiple sacks, tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, etc etc.

Dareus is all talk and as dumb as a brick.

was speaking about how you said he had the talent to produce in his first year. you obvoiusly were talking about performances in college which you said does not translate to success in the nfl. so how can you come up with him contributing but not the other guy.

was not talking about stats.

Do we have to go over the "tools" talk again?

Rookie DTs not named Suh usually get owned by even average offensive linemen their rookie year. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets no more than 3 or 4 sacks all year and perhaps 30-40 tackles. Sure a good rookie year but hardly the kind of performance that makes team regret playing him or feeling like they just got put through hell.

This.

you have to be a freakishly rare athlete in order to produce at a high level as a Dlineman. if you're not, you're going to struggle at first in the process of strength training at the pro level.

I wouldn't confuse Dareus as being a freakishly rare athlete in any sense

You expect as good or better performance his rookie year against NFL talent than he had his senior year against college level talent, 4.5 sacks and 20 tackels and 13 assisted tackles? I don't see it. :willy_nilly:

Agree. I just never understood the Dareus hype. He didn't show up half the games he played in. He was a nonfactor in every big game last year.

In comparision to Dareus's 4.5 sacks, 20 solo tackles, 13 assisted (33 total), 11 tackles for loss, 10 QB hurries, 0 forced fumbles, 0 int...

Following are Nick Fairley's. And yes they are comparable as they played practically the exact same teams all year though Fairley did play in two more games.

Fairley: 11.5 sacks, 36 solo tackles, 24 assisted (60 total), 24 tackles for loss 1 int, 2 forced fumbles, and 21 QB hurries.

In the pros they play 16 games versus the 13 that Alabama played. Secondly in the pros you actually have more opportunity for tackles since teams run more, and third with more drop back passing and less spread quick throws, you have time to get to the quarterback and get sacks particularly with the much tighter coverage in the secondary.

I honestly didn't take his college stats into consideration in my discussion since they are irrelevant to the NFL. But I provided a quick analysis since you obviously didn't give it much thought.

My point was that he will struggle in the NFl, won't be a dominant player and surely won't make teams regret they didn't pick him or feel like he put them through hell.
