What positions do we to fill in FA market

in no particular order....

QB: chad pennington...yes, made of glass, but he is far and away the smartest FA QB available. dude has been a coach on the field (and sidelines when hurt) for years. hard to find someone better for newton (and clausen) to learn from in the film room and meetings. he'd be a great set of experienced eyes on the sidelines as well. imo, if newton doesn't start right away then it's either clausen or moore until newton is ready who will then become newton's backup. more than likely clausen just because he's under contract.

WR: sidney rice...local product, probably wouldn't mind being just an hour away from home (about an hour from charlotte to gaffney, right?) so that should be an easy sell. i'd like santonio holmes more (character not much of concern w/ the "molder of men" HC) but NYJ might be willing to throw big money at him and they will probably be the most likely place to get a ring. word is he only wants a multi-year deal and i don't know if that is what the jets want to offer him. braylon edwards would be my third choice. edwards best year was when chud was the OC. might be a good fit.

OL: marshal yanda...plays OT and OG and does well at both. good to have versatile players like that.

justin blalock...not sure how much of a priority re-signing him is for the falcons, but they have 3 OL FAs this year. dude isn't anything spectacular, but he's a very solid player.

DT: cofield and/or mebane. don't care which.

CB: asomugha would be my top choice, of course, but more realistic would be jonathan joseph or chris carr. i have this feeling that we won't be keeping either gamble or marshall around so we might need to pick up another CB. aso, joseph, and carr all could be #1 CBs. for a #2 i would go after josh wilson, antonio cromartie, or ike taylor.

in order...

cofield/mebane

aso/joseph/carr

holmes/rice

yanda/blalock

edwards

pennington

wilson/cromartie/taylor

I wouldn't mind Santonio Holmes either.. as far as Clutch goes, one of the best..

Do some of you guys realistically think that Ziemba guy can replace Otah?

I dont watch college football much at all unless it pertains to the panthers drafting so I dont know otherwise, but if you were to tell me. . "Razeypoo, . . baby. . Ziemba's got us covered if Otah goes down" and then followed that sentence with his A)Draft spot and then B) Combine strength numbers. I would have to say, Yes, . . I will help you find the missing piece of your skin suit that youve put together with several large women, please dont hurt me.

I've been waiting a while for Asomugha to finally escape the grasp of the Raiders, and right not he is the only free agent I really want. Can you imagine the dominance of having Aso, Godfrey, Martin, and Gamble in the secondary? Now imagine Hardy and Johnson rushing the QB, and they force him to throw in this secondary. Yeah, give me Aso, I don't care how much money you have to pay him. Give the cat a 100 million dollar contract if you have to.:D

i feel confident in saying that ziemba can do no worse than otah did last year.

can he replace otah? history tells us he will have to. otah has spent close to half of his career hurt and on the bench. out of 48 possible games, he's played in 25.

ziemba is a lot better than what his draft position and combine would lead you to believe. he's a natural talent that just gets the job done. he's a solid leader on and off the field.

if otah could stay healthy, there's no doubt that he would blow ziemba away. i just don't think otah can. when otah is hurt, we'll be better off with ziemba than at any time on that side of the field last year.

Bro, cmon he's waaay too young to make that assessment isnt he? Have you ever popped an ACL or PCL? Seriously have you?

Put Aso and Godfrey on the same side of the field......and all of a sudden people start ask, when did Aso get so terrible.

who's way too young? otah?

doesn't matter about my acl or pcl. you can't anticipate someone staying healthy for a whole season when they haven't been able to.

it's not a matter of if otah goes down...it's when.

Yeah Otah. . and last year was kind of a throw out since there was no urgency for him to return.

I wont argue the point much because of the obvious facts, but I still say its too early to label Otah injury prone.

EDIT: btw the standard recovery time to restore a knee to 100% after an ACL or PCL tear is around 2 years (thats with no complications).
