i believe if you want to be great at anything you can achieve it

Then why isnt the world just made of millionaires. I beleive you need three things to be great:

Knowledge

Focus

Determination

(Intelligence can help you achieve your success faster but is not a prerequisite)

There are a crapload of people that do not fit criterea two and three. Complacency is kinda of blissful isnt it though? I think Cam can aquire the knowledge, he appears to be very focused, and the statements he makes certainly lead you to beleive he's determined. We'll see how he does.

Ive been flamed on the forums for saying this same thing before, not that it should be a surpise on an internet forum, but the bottom line is that. . to be great. . youve got to want it, earn it, go get it. There's plenty of large physically igfted people in the world, but very few of them dare to be great.

So far Im seeing that Cam will indeed dare.

I'll add natural talent, definitely intelligence, luck and perseverance.
looks like newton has just enough of those things as well....esp. luck. the laptop incident could have turned out a lot worse had the laptop's owner not dropped charges.

natural talent and perseverance is there in spades. intelligence....that's what he has just enough of, but his other strong areas are able to compensate for whatever he may be lacking.

Luck to me means right coaches, team, offensive system and support.

Who says Leaf wouldn't be in Mannings shoes if he went to Indy and Manning to SD? Things like that.

I'm hopeful, but remain in 'wait and see mode for now.

agreed with that as well. from the way it looks, newton is having things fall in his favor.

as far as leaf being in manning's shoes? leaf's problem wasn't where he landed. it was all about what he did when he landed. that would have happened anywhere. he just didn't have mentally what it took to succeed. poor work ethic and unreceptive to coaching/mentoring. san diego gave up a whole lot more to get him than indy gave up to get manning. just sucks for them that they wasted all those picks on a headcase.

manning, on the other hand...more than likely he would have been the best QB in the league in most places.

I'm so sick of hearing Luck's name around here still.....oh wait.....carry on. :D

Yah, success in the NFL definitely has a degree of luck. I guess because the pool is so small, 32 teams, thats it. Letting a good player go to waste has gotta be up there for worst ways to screw the fans. . . kinda similar to parenting I s'pose.

and ya, Joat I think of determination as the same things as perseverance.
