New 2012 NFL Mock Draft

Depending on where we have the pick. The scenarios are so varied.

For example say there is no football and we have the #1 pick, AGAIN. We can't justify not taking luck. If we do, then a kings ransom will be in order from the team that wants Mr. Luck, which would probably be Denver or SF. Get their picks and build towards the future. Now say Luck has a craptastic year ala Jake Locker, that might hurt his stock and hurt us as well in a way. The kings ransom scenario would be obsolete. Unless there's another QB that wow's people, I.E. Barkley.

Then say we do have a season and we end up winning more than 4 games. We'd still be in the top 10 pick range. Meaning we should probably take a WR. This also depends on what is done with smitty. If he stays or if we deal him for a 4th rounder or 3rd. I doubt we get a 2nd for him. There are so many variables here it's not even funny. It's almost pointless to try and come up with all the scenarios that could arise. But it's still fun to do so.

Best case scenario? In my opinion would be...

CBA gets done. Back to business as usual.

Clausen, Cam, and VET QB battle it out. Clausen improves immensely. Cam competes, Vet QB as well. Too close to call. Clausen wins the battle barely. We win a couple of games under clausen, he gets hurt. Newton comes in, lights it up. we use Clausen as trade bait. Get a 2nd rounder for the guy.

Smitty gets shipped out with a pick from the 3rd round for a 2nd rounder to a team.

Next, we draft a WR high with packaged 1st and second we get from Clausen, replace smitty. Prefferably Alsho Jeffrey from USC, but Fuller looks good too.

But yeah, that's just my take on it. It won't happen that way. The probabilities of it going down like that are very low. I just hope there is football next year.

The Panthers definitely need a WR next year with their first pick, if not a CB. One thing for sure Hurney needs to stop giving away our 1st and 2nd round picks...I swear if he does that again I'll cross the border and slap the teeth out of his mouth... ;/

Alshon Jeffery. Dont make the same mistake we did by not moving up to get Sydney Rice a few years ago. Instead we took Dwayne Jarret ONE pick later. Oh what could have been...

THAT wasnt the mistake, getting Rice would've taken a pick away, BUT Steve Smith (the USC Smith) would've been a better pick.

But they would fear the #2 pick in the draft would...or that someone else will give us what we want in a trade to get him.

true and that would be the only reason they trade up, they wouldnt fear the panthers drafting him, just the team ahead, the team at the 2nd pick will not make a deal.

If there isn't football, and we're all in the same order again, the Panthers either take Luck and let him and Newton fight it out, or they make a historical trade for someone's entire draft. What they won't do is pick someone else first.

There is a lottery for drafting order.

And? Who said we need to move back just one spot? Could be #3. And if #2 pick really wants Luck, and fears that another team might take him, they could still trade with us to lock out other people from getting him (And probably wouldn't have to give up a whole lot considering its one spot).

i doubt the team with the 2nd pick moves up because they may like Matt Barkley just as much, i sure do. i like Luck as much as the next guy, but Barkley is a good 2nd overall pick. the 3rd pick will be the team that could try to move up because i doubt both Landry Jones and Barkley go pro, i think one stays and the other goes, now if all three go i think teams will be high on all 3 of those QBs. IF Jones, Barkley and Luck all go to the NFL then the QBs in this draft will all be risked on. Jones, Barkley and Luck in my mind is a better QB class than Gabbert, Locker and Newton.

It depends. When we moved up from 3 to 2 back in 1998, we gave ARZ the 3rd overall pick, our 2 in 98, our 1 in 99, Patrick Sapp (starting LB), and Eric Metcalf - just to top Chicago, who was trying to get to that #2 overall slot.
