Roller coasters

So my department of grad students took a break yesterday to go to Six Flags New England together... got in at a reduced rate ($25 each for a day pass, not bad).

I forgot how long the f'ing lines were, but the rides were okay.

Went on Bizzaro, formerly named Superman Ride of Steel... Was a fun one, had a huge ass drop. I definitely lifted off my seat for a bit during the drop. (this is the coaster that a guy fell out of a few years ago and died)

My favorites were the smaller coasters... Batman was awesomely smooth, enjoyed the twists and turns.

The funny story of the day came when a group of my friends went on a coaster with no card (seats are still attached at the bottom but you have nothing under your feet) and got stuck sitting in place at an awkward angle for 20 minutes. Apparently the fire department has to come rescue people from this ride every few months or something.

Anyone have any fun roller coaster stories?

that actually happened on Superman to two people before me, one overweight, one just way too f'ing tall... One guy couldn't fasten the seatbelt even though he could close the leg harness so they kicked him off. The guy with the huge legs was just too tall to close the restraints that come down over the legs to the waist, so he couldn't go.

Some of the rides at Six Flages NE have seats you can make sure you can fit into before you get on to make sure.

Bizzaro has a 220 foot drop that goes underground. No idea how fast you go but it's fun as hell... You go through another tunnel and get sprayed with mist at one point. It used to have fire jets but they took them out for whatever reason.

I'd never been on a roller coaster like Batman. Basically, you sit in a normal coaster seat but there is no cart around you, legs dangling free. Unlike the top-attached suspension coasters you are still sitting above the pipe. The swoops and turns were awesome and quick, and being spun around was cool because you could actually look up and see the sky/ground spinning in and out of view, lol

Pandemonium was fun, too... but a lot simpler. Basically just a normal cart you sit in, but the cart rotates and turns as you go around the track. Much, much slower but still fun, and very disorienting the way you spin around. The best part? You can look at the people across from you because it's four per car. Girlfriend and I went on with an friend of mine and he was freaking out the entire way. Amusing as hell.

Favorite roller coaster I've been on was Big Bad Wolf, the first suspension coaster I ever rode and still my favorite because of all the twist and turns around buildings and down towards water. I was pretty young back then though.

I rode on the Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens in VA when I was younger. They also had another good one called the Loch Ness Monster. This was back in the late 80's though.

I went on BBW in the mid 90s. It was the first real roller coaster I'd been on and I loved every second on it. I think I went on it three or four times, lol.

BBW is gone now. It was one of my fave's, too.

I'm gonna ask my doc if I can still ride, but I'm sure he's gonna say no. Last time I rode apollo's chariot, I didn't think I'd make it off.

yeah I read it closed. Kinda sad, but it was quite old.

Sorry to hear you can't ride... :(

The Top Thrill Dragster uses a hydraulic launch system similar to what an aircraft carrier uses to launch jets. Gets you from standstill to 120 mph+ in a few seconds then shoots you up 400+ feet.
