I think the michael vick situation was what change Richardsons mind

If by model citizen you mean he hasn't been incarcerated lately, yes.

the only thing since prison I can really think of was that former associate being shot after a party Vick threw and invited the guy to... but that doesn't mean it was Vick's fault. Dunno the situation well enough to say.

Has anything else happened with him? Seems like he's managed to keep pretty clean, other than angering the ASPCA or w/e by saying his daughter wanted a dog.

Reading this thread, I have observed that there arefans who are off base from just about every angle.

Vick has always been a play maker. Now that he is more of a passer, he is even more dangerous. Please stop saying he had no pressure at first. That just proves to me you weren't watching the eagles games. He handles pressure much better now cause of his foot work. That is why his accuracy has improved. That's why his pocket presense has improved. He is finially a qb.

That being said, vick does not slide. Cause of that, he takes big hits regularly. He does not stay healthy, can not stay healthy cause of his running style.

I wish people would stop comparing vick to newton, and saying that newton will be better. Newton hasn't played a snap, and people are already anointing him a better qb. That is laughable.

Could go on about all the other laughable stuff in this thread, but I won't.

Vick's only got a few more years left before his outstanding physical skills start turning pedestrian. I'll take young Cam over Vick when rebuilding a team, especially when 2 years ago, Vick was just as big an unknown and risk as Cam is now.

I am still cringing at the fact that we could have gotten Ryan Mallett in the third and picked up Marcell Dareus in the first.

ryan mallett is much more likely to turn into ryan leaf than anyone in this draft. people passed on mallett for a good reason.

DTs were deep this year. no reason to pick one first overall.

the draft went really well for us considering we didn't have a 2nd.

Can't turn into Ryan Leaf, he was taken in the 3rd.

Leaf would have probably been fine had he been able to sit for a while behind a HOF QB, and learned how to be a Pro, like Mallett will get to.

more than likely he'll just be a backup the rest of his career.

doesn't matter. not our QB. not our problem. we got the right one.

I actually disagree, but hope that I am wrong.

IMO the "value" of Mallett later in the draft was greater than where we took Cam.

Again, let's hope I am wrong.

where we got clausen supposedly made him better value. cheaper doesn't mean better.

just because the pats took a third round flyer on him doesn't mean much to me.

Clausen was the right pick then.

The Pats do not have a good draft history, and them picking him up means nothing to me either.

However, I think that he would have had the best chance of anyone in this draft class of running the O that we are trying to install here.

Again, JMO.

how was clausen the right pick.

not sure that mallett would have been able to do it any better than newton, nor does he have the work ethic to pull it off.

He was the highest rated player on our board, that makes him the right pick.

I am not sure if Mallett will do better than Newton or not, but I would rather have spent a 3rd on a not sure than the no.1 overall pick. But to each their own.

so you know he has still been screwing up or are you just ASSuming?

dude paid his dues. he got cleaned up and grew up. until something else happens to prove otherwise, thats the truth.

I gave no indication of assumption at all. I was merely pointing out your same point in reverse. Why are we calling him a model citizen? Would you call the unibomber a model citizen because he hasn't blown up anyone in a while? Are we all striving to be like Mike? Did Jesus say he was coming back as an NFL QB
