Scouting Combine, Day 3: Defensive Line

Michael Johnson is starting to look like a Peppers clone. He has amazing body control and speed. I think he would fill in perfectly for the departing Pep. The question now is, after this showing at the combine, will we get a chance at him?

I have ad my eye on him as well, and would love to see us get him, and on the up side of him over Peppers he seems to be a very fiery guy, and plays with a real passion for the game.

They have Orakpo has LB in the drills, So I didn't Had him in to those. Here's his 40 time. They haven't done the Bench and Jump's for LB's yet, but his Bench should be really good.

40 - 4.70

I like Connor in the second round, because of his speed and athleticism, we should be able to teach technique to him as he seems more interested in learning the DE position. I want us to get either a DT, CB or WR in the first unless Orakpo falls to us. I see Orakpo more as a Tweener or Hybrid DE, one that can both rush the passer and drop into coverage. Something our replacement for peppers is going to need to be able to do. Quite a few of our defensive plays have peppers dropping back into coverage. Assuming we get a first for Peppers. Big reason I like Orakpo, that and his uncanny strength for his size.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
