All depends on what you mean by being a "good" owner. Is Richardson good at squeezing every last bit of revenue from every source available to him? Sure, he's definitely a business god. How does that help anyone but him and his investors though? Does that help the fans? Nope, he raised ticket prices last year. Does that help the team? Nope, he gutted it and we went 2-14. Does that help the league? Nope, he's spearheading the lockout and making people think less highly of the league everyday.

If being a good owner means you're good at making money, then Jerry Richardson is a GREAT owner. But by every other parameter, he's been lousy for quite some time.

Honestly, if you were a business owner, you would evaluate success initially by profit and customer satisfaction/repeat business. You are still on this board, so I would say you are still a fan. Granted, if we go 2-14 again that could change. But, Jerry Richardson has too much heart to let that happen.

So in essence, he is a great owner and if you don't realize that, you should question your fanhood, not Jerry.

Panther players all seem to like JR. I'm pretty sure the BoA and Panthers staff think JR is a good owner, after he assured them that they would still get their normal salaries during the lockout, when most other teams are forcing their staffs to take pay cuts and involuntary furloughs during the lockout.

JR was kind of a dick this year with how he handled vets and resigning older players. He had a plan but it backfired. I have never had a doubt in my mind that JR's #1 priority is bringing a Super Bowl to the Panthers. Thats all I can ask for in an owner honestly.

The only thing I'd say Jerry got wrong from my perspective is raising ticket prices last year, while the quality of our play declined. The two should be proportional.

Play like poo = cheap tickets. Other than that, he's been good.

Not surprised that JR isn't winning a popularity contest, especially right now... a survey of the actual owners says that he's one of the top owners considering they appointed him to co-chair the owners labor committee, so he's overseeing the single most important decision in the history of the NFL.

I didn't say he was the ONLY reason. Just the #1 reason. It was he who spearheaded the original CBA that's caused this mess and now it is he who has been the #1 lockout supporter. Them's the facts.
