Worst or Best Chain restaurants

Kettle

Recommended Posts

I eat Carolina Ale House sometimes. Mostly because of the beer selection and Carolina Sports theme. It's a small chain, and the one here employs mostly UNCW kids that don't seem to care to be there. Last time I was there I kept over hearing them trying to get each other to take tables, and complaining non stop about the little bit they had to do. That's the kind of thing that makes chains unappealing to me.

I go to those when I'm in Raleigh or Wilmington. I sit at the bar, get the special and two beers and I'm out for only $25. I've been to the one on College.

There bread is to die for. Drinks are good and their steak salad is so good.

Steak salad is WHERE ITS AT. I love how its not really a salad just a bunch of crunchy poo and the dressing it good too. They always cook my steak the the perfect temp. Their apps are good too mmmm lobster cheese dip.

Olive Garden = microwaved food

Crazy people stand in droves outside the OG in Spartanburg, when there's a terrific REAL Italian place in the shopping center across the street ... oh, well, keeps the crowds down in my favorite Italian restaurant.

I think thats funny bc isnt OG the one with all the commercials about how they send all of their chefs to a "special cooking school" in Italy?

Chili's is horrible, especially since they changed their already crappy menu and made it worse.

My fave would be Japanese steakhouses (kabuto, nakato) or Outback (they have an amazing pork tenderloin dish)

Quiznos is pretty awesome too, but my fave sub chain is Steak N Hoagie

OMG I love Nakato. Gotta go there super high to be able to take on all the courses. Love the soup, love the ginger dressing, my favorite is the shrimp sauce. I am one of those people that douses the entire meal in shrimp sauce. mmmmmmmm.

Which reminds me, Melting Pot is pretty good too. That 3 Wisconsin cheese app with the apples and bread and awww man my mouth is watering. :drool5:

Melting Pot has good salads too.

Blasphemy if we are talking breakfast.

Sorry, I should have clarified, it's a spectrum.

I actually love Bob Evans, it is my breakfast spot of choice, but being categorized as a "breakfast place" is kind of pigeon-holing it into a lower rating when it's going head to head with steakhouses.

That is my meal. Hubby and I split the Lobster dip and steak salad.

Haven't been to Red Lobster in a long time but I like it. It tends to be as good as many of the fish places at the beach. Bread is yummy.

The one on Albemarle road that closed down was the best in town imo. No wait, good service and i thought the food was better.

Maybe so, and maybe the ones who originally cook it are graduates of that "special cooking school," but their food is frozen and then microwaved to serve.

this is worse than what Panthro thinks of ranch dressing boo. I will mix it in with my rice, and then use the spicy on the meat and veggies. I have seen some people that should just be eating the shrimp sauce though. One lady literally had her meal floating in it. disgusting.

Japanese steak house down here is Kanpai of Tokyo. Awesome. I get all three sauces -- ginger, spicy and shrimp sauce -- different sauces for different foods on the plate. Don't drown anything in any of it, though. I love the mixture of flavors.

Now, you've made me hungry for Kanpai!

The best breakfast is my homemade sausage gravy, if you guys are lucky I might make a giant pot and bring it to a tailgate

Man, now I'm hungry...

Yeah, not with me you haven't...

I love the chicken nachos at Ale House... they are awesome.
