Is Everette Brown Officially a Bust?

This concept of declaring players a bust after a year or two in the league is ridiculous. You guys have no patience.

Brown has been absolutely horrible. I mean he was getting owned by mediocre offensive lineman. I've numerous time he's been literally put to the ground.

To continue my last post...yes he was an edge rusher. A pass rusher. He was good value for the draft grade they had on him. Once again, that doesn't prove a win now mentality. Just proves the team was trying to improve their pass rush. Go ahead, snake, continue to spin that to support your bullshit.

One final thing, why is the burdon of proof on me? The last quarter of the seasons games show the kid improving. His stat line (which any lazy person can go read easier than I care to link the page through my phone) proves this.

I know you guys would rather bash him.

Snake can talk poo all he wants to, and when I respond with facts yet again, I'm told to chill. Lol

Maybe snake should chill. Maybe he should get his facts straight before spewing crap, again.

Brown was drafted because we knew we were going to lose Peppers and we needed to find an edge rusher to eventually replace him. The thought at the time was that Peppers could mentor him and we felt that drafting him in the second round when he came out as a junior (he redshirted in 2005) would give him a year of experience. The thinking was that if he came out his senior year he would definitely be a first rounder so we used our first round pick a year earlier and used the time to season him.

So far he has not done much but lets be real, how long did it take Johnson to develop? The only reason people didn't call him a bust in past years was because he was a third rounder.

Love how people continue to try to say he was a first round pick.

He wasn't. We didn't even give up a first round pick for him.

The panthers traded a first round pick for a 2nd round pick, and a 4th round pick. Agree or disagree with that value all you want.

Now you can argue he hasn't developed like ya hope he would have. He certainly hasn't produceed as I hope. Not all players develop at the same rate, regardless of coaching.

What I do see in brown is a relentlesss motor, improved play and production over the last quarter of the season, and desire to become an impact player.

The original question of the thread, "is brown a bust?"

No, not yet.his next season will write that for the panthers.

I stil think. People have had higher expectations, due to the trade that aquired the picks, one of them being used to get brown.

The other pick for goodson, which he has already shown he was well worth the pick.

Ya can't talk about the trade without all of it's parts. You'll never see the value of the trade.

Brown hasn't prospered yet, but improvement inside the dline will help brown become the player hurney invisioned him to be.

your first pick is always going to have high expectations, and if your first selection came in the 2nd round, your expectations are going to be more than they would be if you had a 1st round pick beforehand. For example, in 2007 if we didn't have a first to begin with our no.1 selection would be Dwayne Jarrett, and we wouldn't have Ryan Kalil either since we acquired that from the Jets in a trade down.

and whether Brown was picked first, second, third, or sixth round we technically did spend a first round pick for the ability to draft him. There's a difference between where you picked the guy and what you invested in him. When you look at one or the other the difference of opinion manifests itself because where you picked him was in the 2nd round where players have lower expectations, but when you look at what we invested in him naturally and perfectly reasonably his expectations are going to be higher. And btw, the Goodson selection could've easily been someone else. The Panthers weren't negotiating a trade to give up their first round knowing that Goodson would be there in the 4th, so they didn't say "hey--- listen, we need your 4th rounder too because we know this running back is going to be there 2 rounds in advance and we want him". They sanctioned a trade because they wanted Brown.

He is a bust. He and Jimmy Clausen and Armanti Edwards have nothing to offer to the team and are dead weight. Give some new guys opportunities. We might luck up and find a stud.

Uh...he's been gone since training camp last year. Welcome to 2012.
