Is Everette Brown Officially a Bust?

While I agree with what you're saying in general, pantherclaw, I think that if Brown doesn't continue to improve and product, he can be considered a bust.

Doesn't mean it was a bad trade at the time, but I think we can evaluate him pretty soon.

This year is what matters to me. It took CJ three on the Dline to do something impressive if Brown is considered a bust, CJ was considered a bust last year.

If I'm not mistaken, Charles Johnson showed potential pretty early on when he was given playing time. Fox didn't play him much though so we never got to see what he could do with a full season...

I dont think we can say Bust yet. Was he worth what we gave up to move up to get him so far, no. I'd really like to see him in the rotation more... so we'll see. Also I wouldnt mind getting Vernon G. cheap to see what he can do with Rivera coaching him up.

Look at it this way. Had we not traded the pick for Brown we probably would've taken Clausen with the 17th pick in the 2010 draft. After taking a 1st round QB we wouldn't have gotten Cam this year and instead be stuck with some average player like Darius.

No one can prove it was a win now mentality.

E. Brown was rated highly on their board. They traded a future first rounder for a couple of picks. The value was there, regardless who they picked up with the picks.

Regardless of how high they had him rated, not every player develops quickly. Rucker took several years to develop. Johnson took time to develop.

Brown was really coming along late in the season, showing improvement. He has the talent. He is far from a bust.

Anybody who thought he was going to come in and be a starter was fooling themselves.

Out of that trade, we also got goodson, which has turned out to be a great value.

You can dismiss that all you want, just like I'm going to dismiss anybody claiming brown was a first round pick, and a bust, as fans who are talking out of their ass.

Please I can give you 2 good reasons. For one we gave up a first round pick for him. #2 He was a edge rusher coming out of college and we needed him because it was thought at the time Johnson was only a 1 down DE. The fact was we had been in that mode for 3 years. Fox was trying to save his job and everyone knew Jake only had a few years left in him.

The fact is you show no proof of your statement, and are in fact the one that's talking out of your ass. Brown has not progress any from year 1, he still is a 1 down edge rusher, and only has one move. It may be a load of things that caused that, still call it what you want but he has not progressed.

This is the year to determine this. He just hasn't shown the 1st round explosiveness that giving up a 1st round pick should earn.

Good thing we only got him for a 2nd round pick.

Fact.

He has shown explosiveness...but the dact that you say otherwise leads me to believe you don't watch him play, and you don't care to.

Your first statment is false.

Everett brown was a second round pick. Look it up dumbass.

Don't bother coming back to me about the trade. We didn't trade a first for brown. We traded a first round pick for a second round, and fourth round pick. So you are the one talking out of your ass. That is nothing new with you though.
