Yeah I can't stand family guy any more, got too political. Even though Matt and Trey do go that way from time to time I really still don't know where they stand on a lot of issues...not that way with Seth McFarland. Same for 30 Rock, Tina and Alec can suck a dick.

I never thought Family Guy was funny to begin with. McFarlane has no sense of timing at all. He takes loads of jokes too long and too far. The Simpsons still makes me laugh when I see it though (which is pretty rare) and I loved King of the Hill.

Never watched 30 Rock, but it wouldn't be the first show to be ruined by it's creators using it as a political platform. Designing Women was a big example of that. As time went on, even people on the left were saying "okay, we get it already". And there are other examples of that as well.

Again though, South Park is one I never thought was funny to start with, so I don't really care what political comments they make.

On the flipside, I'd likely have had little to nothing in common politically with the writer/creators of shows like MASH, All in the Family and Soap, but the shows were worth watching because they were genuinely funny.

So are you saying South Park isn't comedically on par with Designing Women??? :nonod:

It is fair to say South Park isn't as funny as it once was (most shows aren't after 14 seasons) but it was funny enough to basically single handedly build Comedy Central into what it is today.

Before South Park it was a channel that basically just had old stand up clips and re-runs of Kids in the Hall.

You think that South Park and Family Guy aren't funny and then you pull out Soap? I bought the DVD for the first season thinking the cast was amazing and that I would really enjoy the show. I watched the first 3 episodes then gave the DVD away to charity. They sent it back. True story.

And I disagree on unilaterally saying that McFarlane has bad timing. Yeah, he takes jokes too far some times, but on the other hand, some jokes are funny because they go too far or take so long to develop. The Bullfrog gag is one of those jokes that takes way too long, but is absolutely classic.

That said, every other McFarlane show you couldn't pay me to watch.

MST 3K was better.
