NFL to close up shop?

Recommended Posts

I have an easier time believing the comparison to the slave trade than I do that the NFL is in dire financial trouble

I don't think that the NFL is in dire financial trouble, I do however think that some of the clubs are not doing nearly as well as others.

They are seeing the cap increasing every year, rookie and FA deals increase every year, and thier operating cost go up every year, while the net profit is staying the same, or dropping slightly.

I would be doing the same thing the owners are doing if I were in their shoes. I also would be doing the same thing as the players were I one.

Everyone wants to hate this side or the other, but it's just business, and in this particular instance, I am with the owners.

Why does no one ask the question why have the owners taken it this far? Maybe because they are losing money. They did open there books and the union just said "open them up 20 years back " then we well show you that you made a profit. Well we don't live in the past, we live in the now. If they indeed lose then they can do like any free trade company and file chapter 11 and sell off the NFL. Just because they gross 9 billion does not mean they earn that.

The court would also have to approved any NFL shutdown. The Owners are just downright childish.

You are incorrect. If there still was a union then that is correct but no union means free trade rules.

This shows even more that the Owners do not care about the FANS.

That's a silly statement. No one on this board would keep a business running just so there customers could go there without making any money. Or at least breaking even.

If I were the owners and were starting back the NFL. I would just make it non-profit and go from there. You cant be a monopoly if your non-profit and you would still be able to sell your business at any time. The down side is you cant make any money but if its true and they are not making any money now then that should not be a problem. They could sit back be fans pay everything they need to and not worry about a union. They could just set any rules they pleased.

IDK if this is possible but it did sound quite good in my head. : )

These owners are RICH. Not poor, but very WEALTHY. And most of them have doubled their worth by Owning a Football team. Even trying to stash money during this lockout. They're mad just because the law is not on their side and for once these greedy bastards don't get what they want.

LOL your so misinformed. Almost all the owners have made there money before the owned a NFL team and none of them make a killing, more like stay afloat. With revenue sharing and high stadium cost most all income is eroded. When a owner really makes the big bucks is when he sells his Franchise. Thats when the real money is make. TBH its kinda like owning a house. In most markets its always gaining value and you could sell it for a good profit at anytime. Still its not making you any revenue while your owning it though.

Not really, so you should probably stop lol'ing as you are incorrect.

The league has been willing to open up the books showing their expenses. They are unwilling to show the revenue side. Without both, its worthless.

thanks for making my point....all that would be seen by the public via DeMaurice are the zeros. That one number would be repeated a thousand times on sports outlets and the owner position would be weakened.

Of course I know that these owners were very rich before Owning a team, but most of them have made a great deal of a return from their investment, especially older franchises. Which is most of them.
