battle of the tablets

I own a first generation iPad and its changed my life. I'm on that thing all the time.

That being said, I REALLY want an android tablet.

However, if you want it for gaming you can't beat the Apple App Store

could you explain why you want the android over the Apple?

and ya...even though some of the reports are showing other tablets pulling ahead in the race, the app availability for apple seems to be unbeatable still.

Truthfully, when it comes to all the major phone / tablet systems, the "bazillion apps" claim is kind of misleading when a good percentage of them are just different variations of ringtone and wallpaper collections or naughty screensavers or whatever.

By strict definition, a large number of those aren't really "apps".

I didn't either until I got one (won a contest at work).

It is nice to be able to internet surf, check e-mail, and play games on something larger than my phone without having to fire up my computer. And this from a guy who's not a huge fan of touch screens.

can't see it anywhere...which one are you using?

Freedom.

And I really feel like the interface on the iPad sucks. Its an enlarged iPhone interface.

Google made a lot of effort to tailor android for tablets that really makes it great. Do a search for Android 3.0 or Honeycomb and check it out.

OK, I played with an iPad here yesterday while we were training... it's about what I figured it would be... just a toy. It's not very comfortable sitting in a chair and if you have to hold it with one hand then you have to one hand type. I suppose I could get used to it, but typing on my Droid X with both thumbs seems a hell of a lot easier.

I just don't see a use for a tablet for ME. So all you iPad/tablet junkies don't get your panties in a wad.
