I lived there for 3 years. FYI, its very expensive. Be prepared to pay a minimum of 25% more for virtually everything you buy. Even pineapples cost more there for some reason.

Especially electricity. Hawaii's electricity is mostly made from burning oil, so it fluctuates a lot and is very expensive. If you live in the south right now, you will probably be paying 4-5x the rate you currently pay. Hawaii's rate is usually .20-.30 per kilowatt hour.

No, I won't. We'll be living on base. We do get a cost of living adjustment there though
