Top 101 Players of 2010

Easy to rack up defensive stats when you are on the field 45 minutes out of 60 each game... I am not trying to take anything from Charles Johnson or Anderson's stellar season, but individual defensive stats were a little inflated due to a horrific 2010 offense and amount of time they had to spend on the field.

Our average Time of possession for last season was 27.24, which was third from the last. Compared to the Chargers who led the league at 33.03, which is less than 6 minutes more per game on average.

Point being, that the stats aren't inflated that much by ToP.

Carolina's defense averaged about 32 minutes per game, and around 66.5 plays per game on defense. I can't find a site that gives statistics on how many snaps Johnson took, but I would imagine that Peppers played more than him. Chicago's defense averaged 62 plays a game, and around 30 minutes per game on the field.

I still think Peppers is the best DE in the league, but Johnson isn't that far off. You also have to factor in Chicago had a real coach and a better supporting cast.

Johnson is on his way to becoming a star, if he's not already.

Anderson deserved higher.

As for Johnson, I love that he's that high, but I really don't know if he deserves top 6. Just to see that Jamaal Charles is one spot behind him makes me question whether he should be that high.

Key Stat: Led defensive ends in defensive stops (48) and quarterback disruptions (81).
I never realized this, though. Impressive.

yes it is, as much as i like Hardy being a gunner. he does not need to be one.Johnson is RE, and LE is Hardy.

No, Johnson is a purebred at LE. Very very very few DEs play the run as well as he has shown to. Considering thats all teams had to do against us because we couldnt score, that was damn impressive.

but he is also the best pass rusher which is normally on the right side. now i do hope he gets to choose what side he wants to be on like pep does.move around.
